FS 84 Vette Red/Grey $4000

FS 84 Vette Red/Grey $4000
Exterior:
-Red paint is in good condition, and has only minor surface scratches
-No dings or dents; the panels are very straight
-The hood and front bumper need a slight alignment to obtain perfect gaps, but everything works fine as it is now
-Blue removable top has a scratch in the middle, but is not cracked
-The wheels are missing the logos that go in the center, but the wheels themselves are in good condition
-All of the lights work
Interior:
-LCD panel has a short, and works on and off (no guarantees)
-A/C does not work
-Radio does not work
-Grey leather seats have some wear on the edges, but are not torn or split anywhere
-Carpet is average, and is slightly discolored in the back
-The driver side door panel needs an adjustment to fit tighter
-Power windows work
Drivetrain:
-All original drivetrain, runs very strong
-Low miles for a C4, at 65k
-Engine runs strong and pulls hard
-There is a slight tapping in the engine, my mechanic believes that is a pushrod
-The tapping only occurs on rare occasion, doesn't effect performance
-The battery needs to be replaced if you wish to start the car in the cold
-Once the power steering slave cylinder is worked through, the steering is excellent
-The transmission has no issues at all; it shifts strong, and easily goes through all the gears
-The car does NOT blow smoke
-Exhaust is stock
Overall, this is a solid car. I have listed every defect on the car above. Every issue is relatively minor; the car can be cruised and enjoyed as it sits. This isn't going to get an NCRS award, but is still a fun car. You don't have to worry about keeping this car perfect. You can start it up every day, drive it, and and enjoy it. Serious potential buyers are welcome to view the car. It is in Sterling Heights, MI. If you purchase it sight-unseen or live out-of-state, we will assist with shipping. Feel free to contact myself (Paul) by PM, or call Dave at (586) 945-4266. Both of us own this car. Asking $4000 FIRM, to break even on the car, between its cost and what has been put into it. Click on the link for pictures, I can send more upon request. Thanks!!!

Sorry for the late response. No, the car was not hit. After it was painted, the front bumper was not put back on correctly by the paint shop. I was surprised, since it was a reputable paint shop. The paint is beautiful, they just must have rushed the front bumper assembly. It is just a matter of adjusting it, I haven't had the time. This is a no hit car, the panels are excellent. Thanks

I also must add that it looks like the wheels on the front appear to be a tad bit wider which means this car could be a Z51. The wider wheels need to go on the back.

Another way to check tell if its a Z51 is to turn the steering wheel lock to lock. The Zs have a fast ratio. Two turns for a Z and two and three quarters for a base suspension. The fast ratio was not a stand alone option.

The pictures show that this car has its unidirectional wheels on the wrong sides of the car (or at least the left side has right side wheels).
This looks like a very nice car for the price
BTW, excellent choice of avatar paul310! So many 1950s American cars look silly today, like overdecorated boxes. But a few, like the 1956-1957 Corvette and your 1953 Studebaker coupe, are timeless designs that continue to look fresh even today

In 1984 the Z51 option had 9.5" width wheels all around but the base suspension had 8.5" fronts, 9.5" rears. All cars had 255 tires, so on base cars the front 255 tires on narrower rims had a "fatter" look than the rears; Z51 cars had a uniform sidewall appearance front and rear. This odd appearance was 1984-only; all 1985s had 9.5" wheels all around.

Thank you for your clarification of the Z51 wheel differences. When the unidirectional tires were put on, they were backwards on all the rims. The tires are going the right way, but the rims are like the saw-blades now. If I have free time at the warehouse I will fix that.
That 53 Studebaker was my uncles, we just sold it a few months ago. I agree, a very unique car for the time period. It had a custom paint color and a 383 stroker, but an original interior, dash, and trim, which seemed to set it apart from other customized 53s. It was a great car

Very nice.
Very nice indeed.
60 days, dont give it away before that.
I dont think you will have any trouble selling this car.

I think the Z/51 went wide at all four corners in 85 or 86?
