I have a three owner 1989 unconverted Challenge car for sale. FX3 and six speed, cloth interior. The color is Charcoal. The car was bought new in FL and owned by the original owner until it had 85k mileage. The second FL owner put another 10k on it during his possession. The car is like a new car underneath. Amazing. The car runs and drives like a new car. Very tight.
The original paint is still on the car and is thin in places. It needs painted to look like a new car again. The car is a no-hitter. The interior is very nice. I have the original bread box for the dash. The car was displayed at the Challenge Car Reunion at Corvettes at Carlisle this past August. Dave McClellen signed the dash that weekend.
This is a special car to "some" folks and is a "needle in the haystack" car to find and collect. It is part of my collection and I really like this car but I have the itch for a ZR1 at the moment.
This is an R7F car with it's factory build sheet. I DO NOT need to sell it and I am firm on my price. I "would" trade it for a C4 ZR1. If it doesn't sell, I plan to have it converted by John Powell, Canada, to 1989 Corvette Challenge specs.
I have a set of four 17x9.5 Dymags at an additional cost of $2000. Update 1/30/10 SOLD
I also have Bruce Jenner's VET1806 Corvette Challenge short block for sale in the Parts Section for $1900.
I had not thought about selling this car at all until today but really want a ZR1. Price $15k Firm

1969 Camaro RS/SS 427 Convertible
1996 Yellow/black/black LT4 convertible (1 of 11 made)

I will sell the wheels seperately as a set of four. I do have another set of dymags coming in a few weeks that are fully restored. The set for this car needs stripped and powder coated but they are solid.
Call me if you are interested in the wheels. 765-623-6154
I have a local powder coater that can do the job.

Rob, it was nice talking to you. Don't sweat the self acclaimed elite crowd. Some folks just like to feel good about themselves by being arrogant.

Someone snatch this car up!
Would you please PM me the number / POC for your PC guy ?
I have spare set of wheels that I'd like to do something different with.
I am somewhat familiar with the corvette challenge cars, and I am guessing that unconverted means no cage, no 5 point harness, and a few other safety devices, but what did the factory do different to make a Challenge car?
I imagine I will still have it when the weather warms up. If so, I plan on sending it to John Powell for race spec conversion. As far as I know, it will be the only unconverted car to be converted by the original conversion man, Powell. It will receive a new paint job and graphics also. At that point, it will never be sold for less than $15k. Especially with the restored dymags and race engine. The raced versions of the cars are going for $50k and up, unless you just get lucky.
It's just a nice original car that will make a neat toy for open track days and HPDE.
At any rate, I am on the hunt for the right ZR1, once Spring hits.
