Default Lurker needs price help!

Hi everyone!!!

I have been lurking here for 6 weeks and want to thank all of you for the great info!!!! I have been looking for my first Vette and saw this 1987 Corvette that went on sale last week here in St. Louis (I have to get a loan from a dealer). They want $13,000 for it and it has 72000 miles on it. It is in great condition with a perfect red interior and Gotti/EToile 3 piece racing wheels ($800-$1000 each from what I have found/Not made anymore) w/Dunlop sp5000 tires. I dont know who makes the ground effects kit, but it is nice. The engine has no mods at all and was very clean without being steamed. It did have a very small valve cover oil leak but that is all I have found). I drove real well with no brake pull or steering pull. Is this a good price for an early c4 with this milage or should I look elsewhere. Thanks!!!!

Mike

I think that is a little high. What are you looking to spend? I would go 92 or newer personally. You can get a real nice 92 or 93 with the lt1 for around 16 k or so with low miles if you are patient and look. Check out some of the prices here on the forum.

I just bought an 01 vette and it was either a 96 lt4 or a c5. I got a great deal and the car had only 2600 miles on it.

Anyway, I hope you have a great night.

For example, look at this car for sale here in the forum:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=237711

The rule is buy the newest/nicest corvette you can afford and you won't be sorry. Also don't settle for a car you are not happy with because you've got to have a vette. There are always better deals and it is fun to search anyway! :yesnod: :yesnod:

Take it easy. Its time for bed for me...

Sorry, I should explain. I am looking for a 86-88 Vette as I like this style better than the widebody's (just personal preference) and like the disco dash even with the problems it may have. I have came close to buying 2 other c4 Vette's within the last 10 years but have had family reasons cause me not to get one. I have nothing standing in my way anymore and will now have my passion  after owning firebirds instead. Also this one has both the hardtop and the Glasstop with it. I am really looking for a 86-88 Yellow Vert un-mod'ed but am having a hard time finding one at a dealer. I found one in Georgia with 65000 miles for $12800 but don't want to go this far if I don't have to. Here is 2 more pic's of the one in town....

MIke

I'm selling my car for $9,500 with the rims pictured, or $8,500 with the stock chromed rims. Just as a comparison, :blueangel:

price does seem high, and not just a little high... that would be an ok price for a car with less then half the mileage...

I agree with the 92 or newer idea. A 92 with 70,000 miles should be in your price range.

Then keep waiting. Do not 'settle' for what is 2nd best in your mind. Get in touch with Juliet, she was dead set on getting the same thing and did find one! :) I remember one being for sale in my area I was going to go look at for her. Give her a shout.

Right now on ebay, there's at least 2 86-88 yellow verts, and I'm sure they'll go for way less than that car. :yesnod:

I passed on that car. Right now i have money down on a 89 red vert with 24000 miles in mint condition for the same price. I couldnt use ebay or a private seller. I dont have time to go looking for a bank loan myself. Thanks for all of your help!!! :D
