This is hilarious! I just looked at this car on Thursday here in Portland, OR. I am looking for a ZR-1 and I stopped at a local old Chevy dealer and this had just came in. I am looking for a car primarily for racing so it's condition didn't put me off, but it is a real piece of junk. I walked up to the car and could tell from 10' that it had been repainted, probably by Macco. Anyway the salesman came out and I told him that the ground effects had to go and I may be interested. He said that it was a one owner car and it just got here from California. I was still looking at the car, seats cracked bad and the gaskets were chewed up everywhere. I asked how many miles were on it and he said 65,000 which really shocked me. He said that he was taking it to the bodyshop tomorrow to have it repainted black, original car was white, and new black interior and new carpet because it needed it already, original carpet was camel. So I asked him what he wanted for it the way it was, $20,000 he said, ouch!. $15,000 I thought was probably more realistic. Not that the extra work to get it up to shape was real expesive, but this car either had way over 100,000 miles on it or it was really abused. He said that he is going to have it all redone and beautiful which will probably be true but I really feel sorry for the guy that pays the $30,000 when it is done, like he said the price would be, thinking he is getting a really nice one owner car.
Re: 1991 ZR1 and 1990 up for auction (Godsil Performance)
Thanks for the update on the car. The problem with the auction is you only get to see what the top online bid is but you never get to find out what it is finally sold for. Wish I knew. It didn't look very good in the pictures so it is nice to hear from someone first hand what it looked like. Not sure why anyone would put that greenwood stuff on a ZR-1, that was the first hint it was trashed I guess, IMO.
