The C4 market sucks ass.

The prices are what got me interested in shopping for one. They seem like fine cars and a great entry level two seater. I am just too lazy to go test drive one and or they are too far away. I am also concerned that if I buy one, I would never be able to sell it, even at a ridiculously cheap price.

Seriously, it looks like a nice car at a good price. Z07 is a very desireable option. It'll just take the right buyer. Hit the local advertising venues hard, such as the newspaper and autotrader. The fact is, there are enough C4's around that buyers don't have to travel to find a nice one. Good luck!

I have wanted a Corvette all my life and recently my wife said "for your 50th birthday why don't you get your Corvette?" Well, I turn 50 next year and I'm already looking for a good buy on a C4. I have found plenty of great looking cars on this site and I will soon be seriously shopping. I know exactly what I want and I will wait for the car I want. I'm sure there is a buyer out there for your cars. The C4s are at the bottom of the price curve right now. Soon their values will increase. Good luck on your sales.

I've had my car for sale for two months here and on every craigslist in Florida and Georgia.
I haven't even had a single person look at the car yet.
Not one.
I started the price at $11,000 and have dropped it to $8,500. Still not a single person has come to see it. I get one or two emails a week asking questions and the answers are always favorable, then nothing.
I don't have to sell it, I just need the space it occupies.
I've been looking at the C4 parts for sale section and I'm thinking about parting it out. How ridiculous is that that I would consider parting out a perfectly good, low mile Vette?

We are both in the same boat. I get a few calls but thats about it. I'm going to put mine back to stock and sell all the aftermarket parts on ebay, then ask a lot less for the car. I have about 5k tied up in aftermarket stuff and I'm asking $8700 for the car.

Like anything, it just takes the right buyer. I've got C5 fever really bad myself, but like others here... am fearful of even trying to sell mine because I still like it and enjoy it and would feel like I'm "GIVING" it away if I sell it for less than $7,500... especially after getting the u-Joints and Rear wheel hub replaced this year by a shop

NADA figures don't seem to apply except for getting loans
My 96 was listed as low retail of 15000, medium retail 19000 and high retail of 28000 yet I'm listing it at low retail with 20200 miles (original) and no bites. I saw a C4ZR1 red/red seats here (still listed as I wrote this). He has 8000 miles on it. Nada listed it as 30000 high retail even considering the 8000 miles (its a 94). He wants 39000 for it. I am guessing were I to offer him 30000 (its the most they would loan me for it), would I even be considered (not going to try as whatever I get is all I can get for my new 2009 purchase (I want it to not be a C4/ had 5 already). One last thing, NADA listed 50000 as the value of a C6 2005 convertible. I could have had a C6 2008 for 48000 with 7 miles on it (its brand new) with zero percent financing and 1000 below GM discount (I work for GM). So NADA values are off for new cars as well.

2020 C3 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
2019 C3 of Year Finalist (stock)
I've been trying to buy a clean C4 in SLC, just can't find one. I have a nice 81 C3 which I have considered selling, many offers just not sure if I want to sell. I would even consider trading it for a nice C4 if I could find a car that would be a good trade, no takers......
I'll keep looking.

guy's with money are buying C - 6 Vettes. I have 2 C-4's and looks like I will keep them. if I had my 86 engine trans in a nice 67 Camaro, it would be worth $35K

I'd like to sell my '95 DPM/BLK C4 in hopes to to start a family but there is no market for them. Even the guy I bought it from (original owner) can't afford to buy it back and he hated to sell it the first time.
Maybe I can sell it over the pond. Euros are still better than dollars.....

The thing about the c-4 is they only made a cool billion of the damn things. ansd how many do you see in a junk yard...I have only seen one and it was a shell! not much metal so why not make a drag car or keep it a s street runner. More Vetts Less value
A nice 85 vett goes from 3500-to 18 grand. so you have no real evidence to stand firm on your price. Not much diffrence in a 85 auto for 9500 and 6500.
Also you have the Drivers and the Diapers. I am into the driver vett so i dont mind a chip and or a scratch, and scraped door panels do not boher me.
And the diaper guys are looking for a early c3, a new vette or a c2.
another draw back is it is not to bad to turn a wrench on, I am no mechanic but it is not near as bad as i thought it would be. so you can buy them cheap play mechanic and re claim the garage back from the left over tupper ware parties! (insert grunt here)
I look for c-4 to drop even more and start to climb in 2012 to 2015 they will creep up as supply starts to shrink
All in all though I would rather look cool in my c4 that save gas in a prius!

The C4's are just in the typical 10-20 year old lull range. I remember when my friend had a restored '75 waiting for it to become a classic. And now you see those starting to ramp up in price.
With the 8k-10k range car you're looking at people not being able to finance, thus buying c5's they can.
It really is too bad, it kills me to see the prices they can fetch for fox body mustangs..........when you can get a C4 LT-1 or even an F-body that has way more potential/quality for the same money.
Good luck, sounds like a Vette show would be your best bet.
(BTW, this thread just reaffirms my thoughts on not touching my old mans '91 with 195k miles DD. As much as I love the car, many firsts in it, even the price of cleaning the car up wouldn't lead to breaking even, oh well)
