FS: (SC) 1985 Black Corvette Coupe, 154k **$2750 FIRM**
1985 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. It was involved in a minor accident and the insurance company considered it a total salvage loss. (VIN: 1G1YY0782F5109006).
I have done a few minor repairs to the vehicle, though it is not complete. Here is what I've done so far:
* Replaced the rear bumper and rear bumper support/honeycomb
* Added the Greenwood wing
* Performed Minor repairs to the right rear quarter
* Replaced the front passenger fender panel
* Performed Minor repairs to passenger side Hood, front bumper
* Replaced Passenger side Hood Upper wheel well
It still needs 3 wheel wells, though I should have at least 2 of them and will include them at no charge. The repairs to the passenger quarter and hood are rough only and need additional finish/fiberglass work. Parts replaced were a different color - they have been spray painted to give a uniform look until a complete repaint can be done. Front bumper fit is poor on the right edge because I've secured the edge to keep it from flapping in the wind until the fender liner is replaced (which should allow it to fit properly. Targa top shows signs of bondo flaking around the edges and needs additional finish work (or replace it with a clear targa).
Interior is actually pretty good for the age. Looks like it has recent rear carpet and seat covers. Stereo was loose in the car when I got it. I put it in the dash area, but didn't see the connections for it (didn't look too hard though), so I left it disconnected. The AC was tested and is cold (it was nearly 100 degrees outside when tested) and working properly. The instrument cluster is in great shape, didn't notice any issues (the cluster alone is worth $500 used in this condition, so it's good that it's working .
I drove the car a total of 10-15 miles and it seemed in good mechanical shape. Steering felt a little loose, but solid. Driver's mirror wasn't working, but windshield wipers did fine, as did both headlights. Driver's power seat adjusts properly as well. The engine runs smoothly and idles fine. Temperature seemed okay, coolant temps went slightly over 200 degrees (100 degree day) in traffic, but cooled below that while driving. Wheels are later C4 wheels from a 90's model and are 17", though the rear tires are in need of immediate replacement. As such, I could not recommend driving this car any serious distance unless rectified.
Aside from what's mentioned, it's actually a pretty nice car, though in obvious need of some TLC. It would make a great father/son project (or father/daughter, etc). It's an excellent project especially for someone that would desire custom paint color on a C4 - since it already needs paint, it's your chance to do it the way you want it AND save some money in the process.
The car is easily worth what I'm asking in parts alone, though wouldn't take much to put back on the road as a decent driver. Mileage is 154,624 and believed accurate.
No one wants a cheap Corvette? I might end up doing a partial part on this if I don't get any takers soon. It'd really be a shame, it runs & drives quite nicely.
Is it wrong that when I saw (SC) in the description the first thing I thought of was "Super Charged" ?
Someone should take this off your hands. Great 1st vette for some kid or just a car someone can make a autoX dedicated car out of. I hope you don't have to part out a perfectly running car.
