Default Looking for a C4, and some advice

Hello everyone,

Been looking a Corvettes for years and now I have the cash to purchase one, if I could list what I am looking for and approx. cost, please help me out since I am fairly new to this

Wants:
targa top (removable, are all C4 with this option?)
Red exterior (is it flame red?)
Tan interior (or as a second choice black)
Auto or manual (manual would be best, but not a requirement)
Below 100K miles
Good paint and interior (not show quality, but nice)
Later years preferred like a 90's 97 would be great
Working AC (are C4 ok on the AC for hot summers in NC?)
Does not have to have matching numbers, but a stock engine
No salvage title
Good mechanical and electrical
Live in NC, so something in driving distance 800 mile best, but will consider other locations
Hopefully under 10K, but got some room above that for the right low mileage car.

Ok be nice but what are the odds in the current market for this happening, and if you have something close to this list please contact me

Thanks for your time and inputs

Bob

you should be able to find what you are looking for in the $8 to $9k range...

I have a 92 in great shape with 60k miles that im having a tough time selling for $8k!!! (its black tho)

Its a buyers market, therefore an excellent time to buy!

Good Luck!

There are plenty of good used C4's that match your description. The market is slow. . .so it's a buyers advantage right now.

I've got a 1992 Convertible with a 6-speed manual. It's white on red with a white soft top and a white auxilliary hard top. New clutch, A/C conversion to R-134a and a new opti/waterpump. 87k miles.

Check out my ad and keep in mind my price is negotiable.

Best advice, is to research what GM offered during the C4 years ('84 - '96) this can be done thru various websites including this forum and/or thru the purchase of the "Black Book " available in book stores and the internet. Assume that the '96 in the most refined C4 and generally speaking buy the newest vette you can afford. Once you have decided on the colors ( interior and exterior), options, body style, ZR1,etc. settle on the must haves such as 6 speed, etc. Remember, you will have the vette for sometime so be sure to get the one you want, but on the other hand you may come across one that is a little off your specs so be prepared to reevaluate. Another consideration is stock versus modified. If you intend to modify the engine, for example, you will be able to find modified vettes for sale that are well under your out-of-pocket cost to modify a stock engine. And if you are not a hands-on mechanic get the vette inspected by someone that knows vettes before you purchase it will be money well spent.

Lastly, there have been articles in vette mags on what to consider and look for when purchasing C4s. Search Corvette Fever, this Forum and do internet searches too for more information........Remember information is power....and you cannot get enough of it!

Good Luck!

Well dont jump at the first thing you drive. Check out several. I went from 94, 96 lt-4, then 92 Zr-1. Those Zr-1's are getting real nice for a bargain price now. Spend some time looking at many posts ect.
