Need Advice

I found a C5 1997, 6 speed car. Near perfect condition minus the fact that it had some damage to the frame under the passenger side rocker panel that resulted in the insurance company salvaging the car. It only has 7k miles on it and has spent its life in a garage. It drives perfect. Does anyone know how much the salvage title will effect the worth of this car in the future assuming it stays in great condition and an idea on what a good buying price could be?

A salvage title has a DRAMATIC effect on the value of a car. It could reduce it's value by 50% or more. If you can buy the car on the cheap and it runs well, go for it. I wouldn't view it as any kind of long term investment.

However, they did not salvage it because it has minor damage. The damage exceeded the book value of the car. Be careful if you purchase this. Sound like there may be much more damage than you are anticipating. I fixed 3 wrecks in my life, and all 3 had many suprises once disassembled.

I totally agree with Paul. That salvage title will remain on that car's record till the end of time and most definitely will affect its value each time it's sold. Keep looking around!!

The other thing to know, is if you should have a bad luck and wreck the car again. Your insurance company will give you nothing for it.
