Want the Pros opinion
I am starting to look into what my husband and I might be able to sell his car for. It will probably not happen until this time next year(unless we got an offer we could not resist) but I need to start figuring things out now.
You have probably seen his picture--he is 84-Radarblue on here. I don't know much about it other than what him and I have done to it. It is a stock motor from what I can tell (standard crossfire 350), new Greenwood ground effects, new tint, new blue removavle top, new paint (98 Radar Blue...big surprise after seeing his signon huh??), new tires (Kuhmo 275/40 x 17 with 90% life left) and ZR1 rims, new transmition, new exhaust (Monza ??) and low miles (58K), JVC head unit, 4 JVC speakers, new steering wheel (purchased at Carlisle), K&N air filter, new KYB shocks (just done two months ago), bosch platinum plugs, new wires, new rotor, distributor and coil, new fuel filter, new fuel pump, HID headlights, when car was painted we also installed new antenna, new wiper switch, new window motors, serviced regularly by local mechanic, heater is hot and air is cold, new A/C compressor and dryer, gold emblems front, rear and steering wheel, gold lettering on back, black powdercoated license plate frame and louverd reverse lights, garage kept and covered during winter ( the wall; cover and carrying bag will go with the car), new cover for removeable top also goes with it (matches interior which by the way is saddle and black), never driven in rain unless we got stuck in it on the way home from Carlisle. PA inspection 3/06. Well over 13K invested.
I'm figuring at lesat 18K but I would like to get your opinions. Clear carfax (1G1AY0789E5112128) and title in hand.
While I may, or may not be considered an expert here, I will offer this -most of what you have invested into the car is needed to allow it to run well. If it didn't run well, it would be a parts car.
The parts new/replaced, never add to values of the car in the form of your reciepts totalled - just a fact of life..
The custom paint, body, etc., all can make the car harder to market, making your target buyer pool much smaller than if it were a nice, stock 57k mi 1984 Corvette.
IMHP, a 57k mi 1984 Corvete *might* bring as much as $12k to the right buyer however (in near mint cond.). With the changes you made, you might see even less than that, just to move it.

Again, that is *MY* opinion
And that is exactly what we asked for---everyone's opinions. I'm sure people on these forums get mad when they do not hear what they want to hear but---if you don't want to hear it then you shouldn't ask the question. I appreciate your input---that is why I posted this thread in the first place. I need to guage what we might be able to get out of this so I can also guage how much we can spend on the next one..
I just purchased an excellent original condition 84 with 74,000 miles for $5400 on this forum. I think you'll have a really tough time trying to get over $10,000 never mind $18,000. To be honest I think it may be hard to get much over $8,000. That's my opinion anyway.
