How long ago did this car receive it's last maintanence cycle / engine service?
How well does it shift?
What condition is the tranny in?
Are your brakes stock or not?
If so what condition are they in?
Most electronics, do they work?
Any bends in the body?
Any accidents?
Do you have any rust on car?
When was the last time the spark plugs/cables, opti spark was replaced?
Is it burning any extra fuel or oil?
Got all the receipts for any work done by a shop?
Is the asking price all up front?
Negotionable?
Sorry for the long questionare-like post.
Engine has had oil changes every 4000mi for the last 70K miles (that's when I got the car.) And the transmission got the oil/filter changed in March 06.
Shift points are nice and firm - no slippage or hesitation.
Tranny - no problem that I have noticed.
Brakes disks are NOT stock (but I have the old stock ones if wanted.) Pads are semi-metalic low dust with a lot of life left in them. Calipers are stock painted red.
Most electronics work with the exeption of: Night light on radio does not light. Driver seat sometimes does not want to go back when the button is pushed (works after I jiggle the button)
The body is straight, but I did have one accident on the car that necesitated a new hood and driver side light. Insurance took care of it all.
Rust????? I didn't know these rusted. Not on the body at least. I haven't noticed any.
Spark plugs (V power platinum), fuel filter, fuel regulator done March 06.
Cables and opti-spark - Don't know; not for the last 70K miles.
Does not burn any extra fuel or oil (mpg 19+ avrg for me)
Very few receipts (oil changes mostly)
Tires have good tread life.
Shocks and actuators are fairly new (Bilstein w/ride control)
A and B pillar seals replaced May 06.
No cracks on the dash - but small cracks on the plastic on the A pillar.
Paint has those stupid stone chips we have all grown to hate. Wish I would have known about the invisible bras.
Halogen lights.
Rear window has needed new tint since I got it, but it never got worse, so I left it. No visibility problems, just asthetics.
What appears to be the begginings of the need to change the head valve gaskets, but not enough to be a pressing matter.
I still drive this car and enjoy it's power and sound. Hate to give it up but it was part of a deal I struck with my wife for the new Vette.
Unless you are part of my family, my best friend, or God, purchase price is all up front. However, my wife has last say if anyone is offering a trade; but she probably would consider trades if a Chrysler 300, or Chev. HHR were part of the negotiation.
Thanks, I know that by listing it's flaws some people will shy away from this car, but I don't believe in being sneaky. I have to sell it because I made a deal with my wife on the new Vette, so we came up with a price that we both felt was fair and would lead to a quick enough sale (although by the asking price of some cars you'd think I was giving this one away.) It's a solid car, and I know the next owner will enjoy it as much as we. I'm actually hoping it will be bought by one of my friends or neighbors so that we can go to cruise nights together . The car is much better in person than in pictures, so I hope that those that are being serious about purchasing a Vette would at least take a few minutes to drive by and see this one .
Thanks for ALL the info in this car but it just has too many miles for me.
I know that by looking for a car with less miles it's not going to have hte same price but I need something with less miles.
I'm looking at your autotrader post & the car looks clean.
No worries. I understand the idea that high mileage needs to be approached with caution. You can never know how well it's been cared for. The sad thing is that I've seen some used Vettes with less miles that are so thrashed that it makes me wonder what kind of owners they are. My 4cyl Nissan truck has 146K and still running strong. Haven't even had to change the clutch yet. If my 4cyl truck can do over 150K mi, then my 8cyl Vette should easily go way over 200k.
