Hey guys...as some of you know..im searching for a 92-96 vette. My buddy has an 88 that im taking into possesion tommorow to help sell, as he has no where to keep it since clearing out his warehouse. Its not my cup of tea..but its probably the lowest mileage vette ive seen and in mint condition. THIS CAR HAS 16,200 ORIGINAL MILES and a clean carfax! Carfax shows three owners..but its really two. When the original couple that owned it got divorced..it was retitled in the wifes name. Then my buddy purchased it. Car has new tires..as originals were cracking. Mint interior..exterior..automatic. Let me know if anybody is interested..looking for 15,700 obo.

do you think his asking price is to high? Ive seen others on auto trader with with 21k miles..asking 19,900...considering hes open to offers..i didnt think his price was to bad..the car still smells new...let me know what you think.

OK, you asked the question. No, I don't think it's too much to ask. And on autotrader or anywhere else, you can ask anything you want. What you eventually settle for---that may be a completely different story.
As to its being a show car, that also depends on who you're talking to.
As to the skirts, I don't think it detracts at all or very much from the value of the car. It's a very clean looking car from the little I can see of it, and very well may have the mileage/clean carfax as stated and may have been well maintained.
But, and it's a big one, you have to find the one buyer who will pay that price for an '88. An 18 or 19 year old car, yes. A Corvette, but still that age.
If it were me, I'd list a little more about the car, i.e., what it has on it for options, how it's been cared for, what's been repaired, what's been replaced, etc. In other words, don't make a potential buyer "work for it". Help the buyer along with all the info and pics you can so that it becomes "easier" to buy the car. Fewer questions in a buyer's head, mean (sometimes) more likelihood to be disposed toward a car. Not away from it.
Corvette Magazine did a C4 Market report in their March 2006 edition.
It pegs the Market value of the '88 covertibles as follows
Show Ready $26,000
Good $19,000
Average $13,800
Needs TLC $ 6,900
This car has flaws...on the convertible top..there is a spot the size of a pencil eraser. Thats it for you people who wanted to know flaws...lol..this has to be gone this month...priced lowered to 14,500..everything works.
Location: The land of 10,000 lakes ,Minnesota 89 coupe 6speed with 383 and 89 roadster 6speed bonestock with XXX low miles
It looks like one very nice car
I just paid 18,500 for an 89 roadster with h/t that had just over 8,000k original miles last August (Its still a new car it even smells new yet)
I see no reason your car would not be worth about the same type of money with such low miles
This is not the place to advertise and expect that kind of money (people on this forum think C4s are all cheap for some reason)
If I were you I think I would try Ebay or your local paper
Good Luck with the sell it just takes the right buyer to see it!(It won't happen on this forum)
I have been offered 22K for the same car since and turned the offer down (its worth more than that to me)
The wifes roadster rolled over 10k just today (it has many more 10ks to go)
As I wrote in other posts, I entered into a deal with my son that if he was accepted to West Point I'd buy him a Vette. He did, doing his 6-1/2 weeks of Cadet Basic Training (CBT) right now, so now I'm in the market.
I've checked out several Vettes so far, several are within short driving distance from me here in Texas. Of course, if I decide to make an offer,
I have to factor in airfare to Florida and the cost of driving back to Texas. I have to consider the bottom line cost to me.
Your friend's definitely caught my eye; one reason is because the ground effects package resembles mine. My son left it up to me to pick out the car for him, after preparing a prioritized listing of what he'd like it to have.
BTW, the new asking price is closer to what I plan to spend.
If you have any additional photos, especially of the engine compartment and the interior, please email them to me jcameron266@sbcglobal.net
