Default Fair Price?

1996 Coupe, Polo Green with Beige Interior, LT1/300HP, Auto Trans, Delco-Bose CD, Automatic Climate Control, Power Seats, Transparent Top, 75k Miles, 6 mos/7500 Mile Warranty. Asking $15,900

Very nice looking vehicle in very good shape, milage is a bit high and the price also seems high IMO. What do you all think?

Mileage isn't bad for a 10 year old car, 7500/year. should be a good shape if it was properly maintained.

Many here would say it's not even broken in yet. I have over 100K on mine and there are several here with close to 200K.

Default Miles

10,000 hard miles is bad, just like 75,000 hard miles is bad.

These engines if maintained should by all rights last forever...well you know what I mean.

So, no 75K is fine.

I personally would look for a car under 60K for that year, thats just me. That is assuming I don't know anything about the car or the cars I am looking for.

I passed on a Blue 1996 LT1 w/57K perfect cond, for year and miles at least, $13,500 at an auction couple weeks ago. Now I was going to buy it to resell it, but at wholesale that is high. That is more on the lines of retail in todays marketplace. Mostly because after auction fees, paying off the dealer that lets me buy it and anything else, you now own the car for $14,500.

my .02

In the end, we all we pay whatever it takes, or ewhat we have for the right car. Over or underpriced. Your car isn't out of line, but if you are getting it from a dealer, they buy rights have to give you a 1 month 3k warranty, and the warranty they are talking about lkikely costs them $300 or less.

Polo greens are typically the least expesive (no flames!). They are not the most desired color, even though I think they are beautiful with a tan interior. Just my .02, but the best deals and the ones that take the longest to sell are polos. Just what ive noticed.

I dont have any experiance with these cars, but I told my self since I starting looking nothing over 50K. If a car was well taken car of maybe I could consider it?

Thanks for the opinions guys.

Default Fair Price?

Is this the car is Jersey? If so, great dealer who won't steer you wrong. Just ask him what it needs, how it was cared for etc.
Would have no problem purchasing the car

I used to live in NY and visited Cont'es several times. From everything that I've heard (but no personal experience) he has a good reputation and has been in business for a long time.

BTW who ever it was that told you that Polo/Tan wasn't a "desirable combo" ... that opinion was only worth .02

This is my 95 I bought it a year ago with 36K on it and I now have over 50 on it and it runs like a top. I drive it 50 miles every day so 70K is no problem I expect to get well over 200K on mine.

Have the car put on a lift and examine the underside to look for leaks. Also make sure that the brakes are in good shape. If you decide to buy the car from him, tell him that you want all of the fluids replaced while you watch the mechanic do it. Oil & filter, trans & filter & rear dif.

That price is not out of line if the car is in good condition

Not sure anyone told me that? I like the combo and think it's sweet. I do however see less in that color. Black is by far the most popular color that i see and happens to be my fav. But id like to get somthing that noone has.

That color will give you what you want Black is a class color also but requires a lot of extra work if you intend to keep the shine deep and swirl free. The Polo tends to have a slight metalflake that is visible in the sun and helps keep it looking good. There are several folks on the C4 forum that have really nice looking Polo/Tan Vettes.
