Recommended oil filter for LT-5...
I've heard that WIX brand oil filters are much better than Fram or most other brands. I have also heard that a filter that traps theoil inside is far better for the LT-5 engine and keeps the chain tensioners lubed at initial start-up.
What brand oil filter is recommended for normal street driving & which brand traps oil inside for safer starts???
Thanks.

i used fram, bosch and currently use the mobil 1 filter. non e of them got rid of the chani rattle at start up. your best bet is just to install the upgraded chain tensioner. i haven't had a rattle since i replaced the old tensioner

Are the upgraded chain tensioners available through GM? What's involved with replacing them?

hi
i went to www.zr1.net but i could not find the "how to" article on replacing the chain tensioner. go to this link

do a search for chain tensioner, many posts will pop up. also you can try this forum. it's a fairly common issue. took me about 1 hr to replace it,the new part i think is around $175 .

There was an oil filter study done on the ZR1.Net and most filters were studied. The WIX came out very favorably and since my local parts store carries the one I need, WIX is what I use.
