My dealer e-mailed me tonight that he had a Museum kept (red) ZR1 (1990) for sale with nine miles on it. I don't have the details, but he can be reached @ Sewell Cadillac-Chevrolet (504-581-7585). If you need pics, e-mail me I have five. I'm not making anything on this deal, just spreading the word.

It looks nice - but the pics are blurry, and as far as I can see, the throttle body plate is badly corroded - not too sure how this happens when the engine is never run, but that plate will need a new gasket, and need to be repainted. Otherwise it looks like a car that has only been driven 9 miles - CLEAN!
For all you people that think your 10-20k mile cars are going to be collectable, there are 100's more like these out there.
More the reason the drive the HECK out of the ZR-1s we have!
I am so happy that there were folks out there in the 1990s who paid $65k for these cars as an "investment" and didn't drive them much. That allows guys like me to get them later (at much less cost) and enjoy them as the good folks at Bowling Green meant - on the road.
I am already planning on looking for a C6 Z06 in 2014!

Since only 6000 or so ZR-1's were made, a nicely kept ZR-1 is definitely a collectable, especially given the attrition rate. I just bought a '93 40th anniversary, one of 245 made. THAT's collectable (I hope).

Make sure you pull the fuel pump assembly before trying to start. Its a $1200 item to replace and they will rust just sitting there.

If you need a ZR-1 fuel pump, check ZR1.net . I remember reading something about the pump being the same one used in another GM vehicle, SUV or something, for less than $200.

Tyler isn't talking about replacing the pump only because it has worn out - he is talking about the entire fuel pump assembly because it has rusted into oblivion due to not having a full tank of gas, and sitting for 15 years.

Hey there rcourtem,
How's life there in 'ol "Hangtown"? I absolutely love Placerville. I can't imagine how cool it would be to drive my Z throughout the foothills (Georgetown, Auburn) and the Sierra. Veeeeeeery cool!

Placerville is the same, never changes much, although we did get a Wal-Mart several years ago and a Home Depot is coming on line soon.
Did ya used to live here?

Nope, I lived in Rancho Cordova when I was attending Navigator training at the now defunct Mather AFB. I used to do quite a bit of private flying in a Cessna 172 out of Cameron Park. Placerville muni has a cool runway(sits on a plateau) you definitely don't want to land short or rollout off the end of the runway!
The Gold country is simply amazing!
Have you ever taken the drive from San Fran up to the Muir woods? In my opinion, that is one of the most outstanding and senic drives I've taken. Lots of twisties and switchbacks through the hills. Unfortunately, I was driving a rental and not my Z.
Oh well, you know what they say: "Nothing parties like a rental!"
