I have a couple of hundred guides in stock for the LT5! They are identical to the stock guides but they have a slight tapper for improved airflow in the bowl area. The price will be $3.85 each for anyone who is interested. This is a great price for bronze valve guides trust me! Let me know something if you are interested!
Once the guide is out you can really get down and do some killer azz porting as you can see in this picture! Bad thing is some of the cast iron guides do break when you remove them. I will have Flow numbers in the next couple of weeks on these, and they will be very high!
You said, "The price will be $3.85 each", BUT my question to you would be....will this price always be 3.85 each or will the price go up any once it isn't a new thing anymore?
Ohhhhhhh, you need to know this you made my hubby really happy!!! So here is a special thanks to you for the awesome port job on the intake and plenum for our lil yellow zoom zoom!!!
Thanks, Im glad I made you guys happy. And it was a pleasure doing bussiness with you too!
That price will not always be that low. I just had to purchase a few hundred of them to pass the savings on the others, and to get a good price for myself. Since the stock guides are cast iron, it would be a very good idea to change over to bronze if your heads ever come off. With the contacts I have, and being a machine shop I was able to come up with a great price.
You can probably find them in the $5.00-7.00 range all day long, but not for $3.85.
So yes I can save you some money later on down the road when you guys plan to do some head porting.
Heck yeah, put us down for a set but keep it at your shop!!! We have decided to just send the car to you instead of him "trying" to do it hisself. We'll get the car to you around the end of November. So don't be selling our set!!!
Hey Mike
We will be taking Bob's 406 out of his ZR-1 and will send the heads out to you for CnC work valves and guides,so put me down for a set of guides.
Can you tell me more about your tapered guides.
I considered several ideas with the guides, but the tapper is the best way to increase airflow! I will put a slight tapper on the guide which remains inside the port. You cant tapper it too much as it can create a hot spot on the guide and grab the valve. That will cause alot of damage. Image what a sticking valve would do at 7k, much less putting a bunch of nitrous on it increasing cylinder pressure. Cutting the guide all the way down to the port surface is a no no. You loose guide surface area which will create a hot spot. Not to mention that would shorten the guide to only about an inch long. That in itself isnt long enough for the valve. A guide that small will have a short life span, and is definately something I wouldnt want in my engine! Therefore the tapper is the way to go!
Guides will be ready to ship out after Hurricane Ivan demolishes us down here. Sorry to have delayed everyone, but I can't predict unforseen circumstances. Anyhow here is a picture of them!
