Default New Oil Pump Seal Assy Needed **BAD**

Nearing completion of engine work, opened new oil pump box and no seal. After a little research, found I should have known about that....new pumps do not come with new seal.

Seals have been discontinued by GM. John Crane, Inc. made the seals under contract for GM, but so far no luck in engineering at John Crane coming up with a number, drawing or info on the seal. The GM PN for the seal was provided to them but turned up nothing.

So... I've come a beggin'.

1. Does anyone have a new seal assy that I could buy?

2. Does anyone have a viable contact at GM that could reveal the John Crane, Inc. P/N used when GM contracted the seal out to John Crane for mfg?

Supposedly the carbon seal can be removed without breaking by using a special tool. I can't chance it with my old pump & seal. At least I can put the engine together with the old pump & seal as it is (no known or visible problems) But, if it gets broken trying to remove it, I'm really screwed.

Thanks
