I CAN'T STAND IT MUCH LONGER!!!
Hey guys, I want to drive my car sooo bad I can hardly take it. When I first bought it I planned on using it just as an investment and trailered show car. Lately I really have the urge to turn it loose and tear up the roads. You can thank all the videos you guys post for that. I watch them over and over, drooling every time. The car is perfect, I let it run a couple of times a month, maintain it on a regular basis, I have replaced all the Bose amps, I replace the gas with fresh before it goes bad, clean it, wax it, everything but DRIVE IT! Now all I do is watch the prices drop almost on a daily basis for our "KING OF THE HILLS" I've already lost my butt so I was thinking " what the hell, drive it". What do you all think?

I don't want to seem mean but why do you buy a car if you can't enjoy it. I have a 1990 ZR1 with over 118K miles on it and I am sure i will got my moneys worth out of it. If you keep this car for another 10 years you might get 40K for or you can drive the crap out of it and sell it for 15K in 10 years so at the end all you will profit is 25K more over 10 years. this will come out to a gain of 2,500 per year. this does not sound like a good investment to me.

drive the shti out of it. Who needs a full size diecast?
On the same note.... drive it, drive it, drive it...
You don't know your expiration date... so live life while your alive...
If you wear it out or wreck it... just go buy another one that someone has been saving for us "drivers" their half price for close to new condition minus inflation... do you see any other 32 valve 4 cam motors with attitude out there in the 25K price range ?
We have already put on 9000 plus miles since last November... it is running great... just needs some more tires now...

You can be a waxer and a driver. A few thousand miles a year will not kill the value.
Every time I see a person driving a ZR1 This is what I see..
Drive it

I bought a brand new '01 with my son's Gm employee discount. Put 3,000miles on it in 15 months (2,000 was a round trip Orlando-Bowling Green to see the museum). Would only drive it in perfect weather, kept it waxed and covered in the garage, etc. Loved the car, but didn't want to drive it for fear of getting it dinged, dirty, etc. Sold it and bought a 90 ZR-1 with 32, 000 miles. Already have 4,000 miles in 4 months-I bought this car to drive. Bottom line-what fun is it to own "the King of the Road" if you're not going to enjoy the pleasure of driving it!!??

DRIVE IT I bought mine prsitine with 11 k on the clock 16 months ago. Drove it autocrosses all over VA and the Carolinas, drove it to Gainsville for WJ2 in January, ran the road course for 6 hours, and still took a top 45 trophy home from the car show after a good wash job.
These cars love to be driven and they clean up fine with a little elbow grease. Almost 26 k on the clock now and climbing weekly!

Drive it like you stole it!
I bought my ZR1 with 4180k miles on it back in 1998. I just broke 35000k miles last weekend, and it has been a blast, and I still get the looks and the
Look, you can't take it with you when you die. You can sit today and die tomorrow, I say screw tomorrow and live today

Life is too short enjoy your car. When the previous owner of my car saw how many miles I have on it now he said ,"You have been driving some huh." I said ," Just a little bit ". I do not drive it every day but I am going to enjoy it before I become too old or senile to have a lot of fun wiyh iy.

Good grief, man, cars are not investments. Even if you hold on to this car for 20 years and you sell it for a "great" price I'd be willing to bet that you could make more money with more traditional investments.

if you want an investment, try real estate, or perhaps commodoties
if you like LOOKING at cool cars, get a big picture, or buy lots of magazines.
if you want to get more smiles to the miles, invest in YOURSELF and
just DRIVE it, freqent, hard, and keep the revs and the shiney side up.
I got into ZR1s because I was committed to stop LOOKING at my corvette collection and start enjoying them. the cars are super durable and actually suffer more from neglect from not being driven that racking up lots of miles.
if well maintained, the zr1 is capable of seriously high miles, both in stock and modified forms if done right.
I've had 4 ZR1s, and still have two daily driver LPE ZR1s. (the 475 93 is still for sale!!)
and all have been remarkably free of trouble. only light maintenenace required, never any engine trouble at all (which is rare for me, I blow up almost everything else!!!)
if you are worried about making money, sell me your ZR1 NOW before it drops any lower, or better still, drive it NOW, so you won't regret selling it.
the ZR1 is a "daily driver" supercar worthy in performance of any vette ever made, docile, reliable, with the ability to withstand copious abuse and beg for more.
my cars hit 6500 RPMS + almost every time driven, my first ZR1 probably has 90K plus on it (who has it now ted???), and even my most radical stroker zr1 has 43k miles soon to be 143k if I have my way. the car is fantastic on trips, and I make excuses to drive around the traffic if I hit it, and DC is famous for plenty of that!!
these cars are not museum pieces for me, they are designed for racing, endurance, and driving them is the best way to appreciate the history and why they are designed for frequent floggings.
my daily reward is a romp in one of the zr1s. unless weather is foul (and sometimes even then!!) I drive my zr1s everywhere I go. anything short of snow won't keep me out of em.
life is just too short to drive anything less IMHO.
DRIVE IT!!!!! you won't regret it and as others have said, the more you drive it, the more you will understand what I have said.
