Wilwood Brakes are Installed (Pictures Inside)
Many of you know that I was toying with the idea of putting the Z06 calipers and Eradispeed Rotors that I had laying in my garage for about a year.
I decided to sell those to a forum member who put them on his C5 and I went a different route with the wilwoods, GS rear calipers, DRM big brake package with stainless brake lines.
Thanks to C5Homer (Vettemechanic@hotmail.com) for doing the install. He does awesome work, if anyone is in need of a good mechanic in the Clearwater area, he is the guy for the job.
Below are some new pictures... the install pictures are posted in TobiJohns Post.

[QUOTE]Looks good James. Have you gotten on the binders real hard yet
I stood on them once or twice pretty good, you have to be careful or they will lock up even with antilock and would probably put flat spots on the tires.
They stop damn quick though -- my 93 feels like yugo brakes now

What type of paint and application did you use? The painted lettering doesn't follow the indentations. Was that a problem? Give details.

Not sure what you mean by the painted lettering doesn't follow the indentations - the lettering was done by a brush and I thought it came out pretty good for $4.00 of materials and an hour of time.

Im not criticizing at all, as the results are great looking for sure. Picture one shows lettering straight (recessed) while picture three looks like lettering has a slight arch. It might be an optical ilussion. I have same calipers and have been thinking about painting letters myself too. What brand paint? Will the paint hold-up to high temps created by track use?

They shouldn't lock up - is your anti-lock functioning ok? Even with the big binders, they should only lock up momentarily, and then the anti-lock shouild kick in.

I think it might be an opitical illusion although its tough to paint with a brush.
I used a high temp paint that I bought @ walmart. Its for 1200 degrees.
I don't run mine on the track so I should have no problems. I would think 1200 would be sufficent but you never know.

Yes but momentarily is enough to rip off a chunk or two of rubber

Dude - those GSCs are good for: A) Burnouts, and B) potted plants. Strip 'em bald and get some Supercar tires - the grip will blow your mind!!

Your right about about the GSC's... The only other use they have at the track is finding out how far you can slide your car without going off the road course... :D

Re: Wilwood Brakes are Installed (Bigvmaxx)
I would check your brake system. A properly working ABS system would not damage your tires. Especially hard compound street tires.
Contrary to popular belief, unless you go to a soft compound competition tire, most street tires give similar traction. I currently use Michelin Pilot Sports and Toyo RA1 for street use. Pilots are similar to GSC and don't compare to RA1. Goodyear slicks for the track use of course.

Re: Wilwood Brakes are Installed (ZR1 MK)
Well it locks them up for a split second, and if you are on gravel or anything, it roughs up the tire some.
I have no codes on for ABS.

Re: Wilwood Brakes are Installed (xlr8nflorida)
Codes are only a part of the diagnosis. Condition of the fluid and dirt on the sensors are just a few things that may create the system to function less than 100%. See manual for full details.

Manual should explain. My 1990 is easy, but I think some later year cars require the Tech 1 to enable the system/process.
