I took the ZR-1 to the track again today, with MT ET's on it VS the 345/30R18 BFG drags I was running, and holy crap!
made 5 passes
the 1st pass was 12.4@113mph
2nd 12.4@111
3rd 12.4@111
4th 12.9@111 (7000rpm was a bit high to come out of the hole even with the MT ET's)
5th was 12.2@113mph
not bad for a bolt-on car at nearly 4000ft elevation
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (FastMatt2)
That's some good MPH for altitude--what does that work out to @ sea level?
What were your 60' ft times, and what RPM were you leaving for best launches on the ET's?
Good job Matt!
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (FastMatt2)
Way to go Matt. Good times for that elevation. So before you were running BFG Drag Radials? What were your 60ft's then and what are they now with the ET Streets?

Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (SurfnSun)
maybe I would sell it, but most likely not, I want to see now if I can get it into the 11's up here with Porting the plenum & inj housings, and a Light FW (but the FW may kill my 60ft's, but I think the FW will give me 1mph in the 1/4 and if I can just raise the launch RPM to keep the 60ft's the same)
Current mods
Jeal headers
B&B exhaust with X pipe
4.10's
cut away lid
Chip
RC 205 CC injectors
C-beam plates
Next groop of mods
Port plenum and Inj housings
Fidanza FW
I'll let you all know if it works out the way I planed
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (FastMatt2)
on a side note, there were plenty of heads and cam LS-1 F-body's, C5's and ZO-6's at the track yesterday, thy all fell victim to the King of the hill. There was 1 Auto C5 with LPE H&C that was VERY upset to loose to the king during qualifying. You got to love that.
The track ended up getting rained out with only 4 cars left in the V8 class I was in, I'm going back right now To finish the race. The 4 cars left, a H&C WS-6, H&C Auto C5, H&C Z28, and ME.
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (Aaron71771)
well just got back, I took 2nd, the WS-6 took home the win in the final with a 11.87 vs my 12.15
I was happy though, the faster car won. ThatÂ’s the way it should be. But the WS-6 owner was to say the least VERY impressed, he had everything under the sun on his car short of a stroker, 12 to 1 comp, TAE stage 2 heads, GL .592 (i think he sed .592) intake, and .609" exhaust lift cam, headers, exhaust, all the bolt on's, 12 bolt rear, 4.30 gears, all the suspention parts ect ect. He was cutting 1.61-1.65 60ft's! (same ET streets I was running).
He could not bleave it when I told him that I only had a few bolt-on's, his reply was "man I had no idea ZR-1's were that fast, imagine if you did heads, and cam... well cams I guess, 4 of them"
the track was hooking a bit better today here were my times. I made a few passes before, and after we finished the racing for the money. The car stayed the same or got faster with every back to back pass!
12.29@111.5 mph with 1.76 60ft
12.29@112.3 MPH with 1.79 60ft
12.21@113.4 mph with 1.72 60ft
12.21@113.6 mph with 1.78 60ft
12.15@113.2mph with 1.67 60ft
12.14@113.5mph with 1.68 60ft
12.13@114.0 mph with 1.73 60ft
12.11@113.7mph with 1.72 60ft
12.09@114.0mph with 1.73 60ft
After I got the 12.09 I was happy and figured that I had romped on the car enough for 1 day, and I still needed to drive it the 120 miles home. So I thought I would give the over heating clutch a brake and call it a day.
all and all I am very happy with how the car ran,I was faster then all but 1 of the cars in the street V8 no power adder class.
11's should be EZ with porting the top end.
As for the CCW ET streets and skinny's thy rock, I drove the car to and from the track yesterday, and today on them, cruising at 85mph on the freeway. I just set the skinny's at 32psi, and the ET's at 28psi and drove it. (i ran the ET's at 11psi at the track)
Location: This city NEVER sleeps! Frank's back yard!

Great job Matt--way to whittle those times down consistently. 1.67 short time N/A--impressive
What was that F-body turning MPH-wise? You can really tell where the ZR shines(1/8mi to 1/4mi MPH). What would your 114 work out to @ sea-level?
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (Aaron71771)
Remember guys:
This is one of the *strongest* LT5s ever produced. It *has* to put down over 380rwhp to turn that mph at 3600 ft. This same car ran 11.80s@120.**mph at sea level with drag radials. SW had this car, it seems just being in his presence makes them quicker...lol;)
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (GTB/ZR-1)
Using the NHRA correction factor for 3600ft the MPH should be 119.3mph, and the time should be 11.56 (But from what I understand the El Paso track may be more like 4600ft+ not 3600ft like the Roswell track I run at most of the time, Roswell will reopen in march I'll run it there and we will see, my cars always run faster in Roswell)

this track is not a very sticky track, my 60ft times on the 345 BFG's were 2.5s (13.1@111)
Matt that's a big differance one full second, i would've thought the DR's would do better then 2.5's 60ft.
Did you wanna sell those wheels and DR's since they don't work for you.
What wheels do you have those DR's on.
Any pictures?
Nice runs.
Re: new track times today in my ZR-1... i'm impressed (ZR1Pete)
there on my 18X12 FM-5's (my street wheels)
Maby on a better track thy would have hooked, but there in El-paso thy were spinning in 3rd gear. Thy hooked much better on the street then thy did on the track.
