Default 415 CID

Talked to my friend Billy K. today on building me A 415 shortblock And it's
in the works boys. All this talk about big motors got me riled up.However
I am staying with stock cams and removing the secondaries. But I am getting
Mrcrowley's plenum. We are hoping to see numbers around 530 and 540
RWHP.

Bert,

You'll be very happy with Bills work, his attention to detail is superb.
I'm picking my 415" motor up on Sunday, he is supposed to be done with it today or tomorrow, i'll get the call and i'm off.

Sadly, like all 415"s, they take so bloody long to build, it's all the special parts needed & none more so than the crank, the wait will be more than worth it.

Good luck on the 415 project, you'll be over the moon once all is said and done.

Absolutely - Bill does an excellent job. He is one of the finest in the business - you'll get a top notch engine - just make sure he does the heads too - his head flow work is kick azz!! :seeya

Im ready for them Al! This first set will be done in about 2 more weeks. I was thinking of bringing them to SGC for alittle show and tell, and then ship them out to Pete. What you think? It would be nice to see 450-460rwhp on Pete's 350, with stock cams.....

Congrats to my buddy Al.
We will work hard to squeze extra ponies out of that 415 like we did out of
the 350 LT5's.

Mike "who loves you baby" thats what i'm talking about 450-460 rwhp from a stock camed 350 thats my kind of lt5 power.

That's fantastic work !!!  Congratulation's !!
Most 368's don't put out that kind of power. I'm really curious what a 368 with that kind of port work and cam timing would put out ?

Im glad to be aboard Al and Pete's projects. And the proof in the pudding is right around the corner. Hopefully everything will go as planned, and then I might make a group purchase, or a 6 month special on siamesed plenums and Ih's. Cutting up a plenum into pieces isnot an easy task, nor can it be done in a day. But the my end results remain to be seen. The Ih's should be done at the end of next week, and the plenum the week after. I will post some pics before powdercoating for everyone to see. Here is one before the final polishing and welding is done!
Mike
P.S. Owning a Brideport makes siamesing so much easier!

Greybeard,i'm really not smoking anything,my Z makes 437rwhp now i'm hoping with some help from Mike's (Mr.Crowley) plenum & IH's i'm hoping to get another 10-20 rwhp i figure since Clint's red Z saw 30rwhp gains with the siemised intake.
We will find out if this helps have my fingers crossed,i will post the results.
Unless you have tested and know otherwise please let me/us know, please no theories only real testing.

My mods and ET are in my profile.

I dont have any hard data, but I'll add my 02.
A 415 with Big Valves, Big cams, and siamesed runners makes around 560 rwhp SAE.
If we calculate its hp/cid we get 560/415 = 1.35 hp/cid.
Now forget that we have Big cams (around 40-50 hp), and big Valves(around 20 hp) and just say we can make a 350 produce 1.35 hp/cid.
We get 470 rwhp.
Based on the above and the fact that 470 rwhp is what the best of 368's make with cams and big valves plus 12:1 CR, I would not think 460 rwhp is possible out of a 350 cid with stock valves and cams, no matter what porting you got.
I think you can only make as much flow as the head can flow. So even if your intake causes no losses it would not flow more cfm than the head can with stock valves and cams. Again just my opinion, I hope you prove me wrong...
Good Luck!

So, you're claiming an increase of 158 fwhp. with a port & polish job, a 63mmTB, and exhaust?

That's 50+hp. more than Lingenfelter, Rippie, Skinner, etc. have gotten out of the same mods.

That's one magic LT-5. :yesnod:

If i am correct, i think Pete's car is really setup for 4000 RPM races & up, you compromise on everything, if he's making that much power (PEAK) you can bet your last $$$$$$ his TQ. is very low at low RPM's, it probably has very low numbers in the low range on HP too.

Pete, do you have a dyno graph that shows the power curve?
