I want to get the headers ceramic coated to keep the heat from under the floor and out of the engine compartment. But I have seen some people say you don't need to coat the headers.
I don't care about the looks, I just want to keep the heat down. What is my best option?
Thanks,
Ed
I have mine coated and have no heat issues. I haven't noticed any difference in floorboard temps since the install. I did talk to another forum member that did not have his coated. He told me that if he were to take them off he would have them coated. I wonder if he did.
And for the amount it cost to do it. I think it was well worth it for piece of mind.

Ditto this. I had mine ceramic coated and noticed absolutely no increase in heat anywhere, under hood or floorboard. May actually even be cooler fo all I know.
I had the headers send directly to Swaintech in NY fantastic job .
If you do send then there tell them I send you since I ask to give a discount to the menbers of this forum and the ZR1.net ,just one thing do not have the S pipe coated it will cost you another $40. They usely charge $245 0r $250
but wthe discount it was $200 http://www.swaintech.com/header.html#price
Yes, they are 49th street Rocker panels. But 49th street is no longer in business. And actually, I do not own the rocker panels anymore. I sold them last month.
Another gentleman on here should be posting pics of the rocker panels on his car soon. That is if he ever gets the car back after his little modifications! :smash:
Ed, no coating on mine. I've had no heat issues and the car has always run cool. I've had them on for about a year and they look the same as the day of the install.
I will pipe up for Swain Tech. They are the only ones with a real coating. All the others get their coatings from Techline in Waxahatchie Texas. All these coatings are is a bit of aluminum in a suspension medium. When they are cooked the aluminum puts a very thin coating of aluminum over the part coated. Think about it, how much heat is deflected with a bit of aluminum 1/10th the thickness of aluminum foil? Swian is a thick ceramic surrounding the pipe. It is ugly for sure, a flat white. However, just take some flat black grill paint and shoot them with that. There are some aluminum paints you can buy at Home Depot now but I haven't tried them.
