What will a Early ZR-1 run (or be capable of) in the quater mile with these mods below

Chip
P & P Plenum and Inj Housing??
I understand these are PITA arse questions, and you cant really give an exact anser, but something close would be cool... Just looking at ideas of what is possible
These seem like they are teh only things that can be done to these cars unless you feel like dropping some serious money and want to go inside the motor.... Anything else you can do?

Since you won't have any traction in 1st, 2nd, and part of third gear you will be stuck in the 12s... probably mid 12s if your good with the launch... with slicks you might get the high 11s... I would try 200 lbs of ballast in the rear compartment just for the fun of it... :lolg:

In general Corvettes don't make good drag cars till you tune the suspension... without weight transfer your just not going to get it to the ground... the exception being good slicks on a sticky track coupled with a perfect launch... believe me... it won't happen on your 1st pass down the 1/4 mile... :D

With traction and those mods the car should be a low 11 1/4 mile car. I believe Cam ran mid 11s on his stock 90 with a 135 shot. the rest of the mods should shave off a few more tenths.

Make sure you have two pairs of whity tighties on, because once you pass the 1/4 mile mark that thing will pull hard enough to make you crap your pants.

Thanks for the info guys.... I have heard these things like and take to nitrous very well.....
As long as its setup correctly with all the saftey, there not much worry about blowing the motor on a 100-150 shot? What are teh internals made of?
I dont know that much about the aftermarket on these things, so if you guys could enlight me... Thats great. Such as, what would you do if you could do it again, and in what order?
Keep in mind, I am dreaming, and probably will not have one for a long long time, But if and when I do, I would want a street racing setup. A nasty street car.

If I am not mistaken, the kit that is made for the ZR-1 is a 135 shot. It was designed by NOS and GM for the ZR-1. That would be the kit I would look into getting.

My car has the same mods as you listed minus the gears and chip. It makes 380 RWHP. I suspect that it would be very close to 500 RWHP with that kit. That should be good for a low 11 sec run in a 3400 lb ZR-1 as long as the traction is there.

I generally agree with what's being said but I think some are underestimating a 380rwhp ZR-1 with a 150 shot. That will put it into the 500rwhp range and with a good launch, it's in the 10s. I predict on a good track, cool night, with a 1.6 60ft time it would run 10.9 at around 128-30mph. Like others have said, letting off at the end of a quarter would almost be a shame; it would be pulling so damned hard at that point I don't think I *could* let off...;)

Really sorry to hear about your car I couldnt imagine I would S H I T if someone tanked into me, glad your ok. Did it have full coveraged? I know its nice to have a good friend that has an auto body shop when crap like this happens. A ZR1 is an awesome car stock as you probably know. My good friend has a 97 WS6 that was smacked in the rear, a good friend that ownes a body shop totaled it out. He owed around 15k on it, the insurance payed it off and he was able to buy the car back for 1,800. he had it fixed better than new made about 5-6k after all said and done. I would think that a bone stock 90-91 with a 100 shot and drag radials your in in the high 11s with a good driver, but its just starting to pull after the 1/4. Good luck. :cheers:

I was figuring It was capable of a high 10 with those mods.... Sounds like these cars are really hard to get hooked up, acually, you guys mak it sound impossible.... Why is that.... I always thought corvettes could hook up extremely well with just a set of tires and maybe some shocks.... What suspension mods do you guys do besides shocks?

the IRS, stiff springs, and limited weight transfer can make traction difficult. don't even try it with the low profile stiff sidewall tires. and keep in mind that if you run 10s without a roll bar and safety equipment you WILL be asked to leave. launching the zr1 is tricky. :eek:

what does it mean? its not like there is one set amount it can take. it will take xxxx abuse before BOOM. wheather it be 1000 10hp shots to 4 250 shots (used numbers to make it easy).
Its not an "if" question but a how long question.
think of a cast crank. it wont dent or bend but all of a sudden after its taken enough "boom" It doesn't have an rpm or a hp limit. it just has an abuse limit.
