C5 owner trashes a ZR-1
I posted this article involving a C5 http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/6085637.htm
to my local group, a C5 owner whom I have blocked due to him being class 1A a-hole, another member sent this to me.
This was the response from a-hole.
"Only if this kid had been driving a beefed-up ZR1, he'd definitely not been going as fast. His life may have been spared by that fact alone. Plus, the nasty rattling noise and air leaks through bogus door gaskets any C4/ZR1 makes at any speed over 50mph would deter even the wildest teenager from speeding. I say put them all in C4's!!! The world would be a safer place from these crazy teenagers!! They get behind a fast, smooth riding C5 and this crap happens. Over-confidence kills. Over-confidence is impossible in a ZR1. When will they learn?!!!?!!!!"
Funny as he used to own a ZR-1, and only sold it due to mods being cheaper for a C5.

that guy is a jackass because when i was a kid i could care less about noise it was all about going fast!
and a 17 yr old kid in a c-5 or a c-4 even if its stock is to much car thats why my kids will never have a vette for free, they will have to earn it just like I did.
Its unfortunate that the kid died but that guy is a jack butt

What a tool who isn't even worth further mentioning  Too bad we have to deal with people like that. I sold a BRAND new 2002 MN6 C5 to get my ZR-1 so that should give you a clue about how much I like it.

Who ever complains about the sounds of wind noise thru the *ahem* door gaskets just does not get it. The sound of the LT5 at full throttle is about the best sound you can get in a Corvette, and to think that wind noise is even something the ear would bother to pick up is absurd.

Yea I will admit that alot of teens should not be behind the wheel of a performance car.... I'm takeing it slow and working my way up.
16 1987 Camaro 225hp
17 1996 Camaro Z28 285hp
19 1996 GS 330hp
That guys who said that to you is nuts....if he went to a c5 over a zr1 it would only be ok if it was a Z06 and even then its debateable. I'd feel more safe in a C4 simply because you feel connected to the car unlike a c5. you can be over confident in a honda and kill yourself it has nothing to do with the car your in but your attitude and respect for your car.

I've got both, and you can tell just by reading on this Forum that when you "upgrade" from a C4 to a C5 you just move into a different set of problems. There's no such thing as a perfect Corvette, not even a C5. I have to go now, my steering column locked up on the C5.....

That guy is a dick. I'm only 19 and I'm on my 3rd Vette:
1st 72 LT-1 4-speed
2nd 96 Grand Sport
3rd 90 ZR-1
and I've had no problem keeping them out of ditches. I know all too well what these things can do and it only takes a split second to lose control.

Girl: I have character.
Wolf: Just because you are a character, doesn't mean you have character.
I believe that a healthy dose of respect for the power of a car is necessary before driving, and education on a race track with a trained professional is necessary to attempt to use all the power a performance car can offer. :seeya
Clearly the Iceman has the necessary respect - just make sure you get the education to go along with it!

That guy is a loser.
Using the loss of someone's life as an example to why his car is better. I wouldn't waste my time explaining anything to him. :smash:

Re: C5 owner trashes a ZR-1 (Wilson6t7)
Well the 72 was my dad's that i kinda took over when I started driving to high school. I needed something to get the girls attention. Then I made a deal with my dad one day that if I made straight A's for the remainder of High School(3 years), that he would buy me a corvette. He agreed and I had a goal. Well we were visiting my dad's friend Jimmy Harrelson in Orlando who owns H&H Corvettes INC. While we were there I saw a 96 GS on the rack being cleaned and I had to have one. I made straight A's and we called Jimmy back and told him we wanted the GS. Dad traded the 72 on the GS and I had my Corvette. I only had the GS for about 4 months when my dad and I were on our way to The Grand Run in Pigeon Forge when my dad raced a Saleen Mustang and kicked it's butt but my dad stayed in it too long and lost it going around a curve and totaled the GS. He knew I wanted another Corvette so he called Jimmy back and Jimmy told him that he had a ZR-1 just traded in that he knew I would love. Well after Jimmy serviced the car and practically went throught the whole car replacing everything, we went down and picked it up. I do make pretty good money detailing cars but I spend all that I make on Mods. I recently started working as a dental lab technician about 3 weeks ago. Corvettes are in my blood. I'll always own one if not more than one.

I've attended several driving schools and appreciate the performance capabilities of my car but I know that city streets and country roads are not the place to be pushing the limits. I attend autocrosses and open nights at the drag strip to get that out of my blood

Maybe he didn't know about the valet key in the console... :D
Some people are just azzes... What they have is the best until something better (ie: newer) comes along... Then the old one is a POS, well after they get rid of theirs anyway...

It nearly killed him, but he's fine now. The insurance report said that from the damage he was traveling at over 120 M.P.H. when we hit the tree.
