HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS
After being on the forum, and owning my ZR now for about 2 months, I have found a lot of owners that are not "stock". I have so far only added a Computer chip, and a K&N air filter. It would be nice to hear from everyone, and tell what you have if, or not if stock.
Thank you!!

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (94BLACKZR1)
Here's what a 3inch custom catback Magnaflow exhaust did to a totally stock (to the air filter) 95 ZR-1.
Unbolt the exhaust and I'm right back there.

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (94BLACKZR1)
Stock????? WTF is that?
Two things about a ZR-1.....
Never get a ride or drive one.... you'll want one.
Never get a ride or drive a modded ZR-1..... you'll want one.
I hope I never get a ride in a 415, although I already want one.

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (Jeffvette)
I agree with Jeffvette, however I also want to retain the value of the car if and when I ever sell it. Does everyone agree that modifying the car from stock will depreciate it more???
This is the primary reason I haven't added anything (major)!!

I come from a different mindset - I bought my Z because I've always wanted to own one, and more importantly, a modded one - this is the single most potent NA engine to modify - you can port/polish, add headers, exhaust, and have 400 rwhp!!! That is fairly cheap, and HUGE bang for the buck!! If you enjoy your Z stock, kudos to you - that is great. But don't keep yourself from modding because you're afraid you might lose when selling. In my opinion, if you don't have one hellacious time with your car while driving it - you lose anyway.
As Jeff said - they're a blast to drive, and modding only makes this more so! :seeya

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (DDSLT5)
Hi DDSLT5,
I am with a different mindset. I purchased the car for an "investiment"..and hopefully someday it might pay off..especially since there were only 448 of these made. I used to have a 1986, purchased it when I was 18, and just sold it 15 years later with only 30,000 miles on it. Thats 1750 average a year i drove!!
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to modify the living daylights out of mine, but I just want to keep it as nice (and stock) as possible.
Anyone else, or am I alone????
Roger

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (94BLACKZR1)
I will keep mine mostly stock (I put a K&N in and may get B&B just for the look and sound down the road)
A. There isn't anywhere to appreciate the power it has now around here.
B. Less wear and tear
C. I like the power it has and would rather invest in other hobbies.

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (LowFlight)
I'm with Lowflight!! I have WAYYYY too many other hobbies that need my attention as well. However, I also love Corvettes, and had to have the BEST there is!!
Thank you DDSLT5...I have always tried to keep my cars in showroom condition...not easy...but I try.

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (94BLACKZR1)
Mine is 100% stock
But not for long, I buy a car for using and having fun, not for the investment.
What car seriously has made $ for someone? after insurance, upkeep, storage etc, plus time value of $...
I plan on 4.10's, Headers, P&P intake & injectors, x-pipe, exhaust, custome chip for staters... maybe NOS later...

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (Bans25)
Opinions are like...well everyone knows the saying. However this is just my opinion...
Look at the 70's big-blocks. Look at the price of a STOCK car.
Also, speaking about "investiment", look at all the $$$$ you'll be putting into the car with mods, not including your time and extras...then try to sell that same car vs. a stock one.
These are just my personal opinions, and everyone is different...however I personally love you guys that modify the daylights out of your cars. Just ask me in 30 years what I'll get for my stock ZR.

Hey
I'm pretty much 100% pure factory stock aside from the RedLine fluids that's in the engine, tranny, and rearend!

Make that 447 1994 ZR-1's and 1 of 2 known Lingenfelter Aerobodys
WHO's SELLING? NOT ME!!:steering:
Just ask me how much fun I've had during that 30 years(if I live that long), doin' it my way.
I'm with Jeff & Dwight, drive it like you stole it, and do it in style!

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (94BLACKZR1)
Well my '93 is pretty much the way it came from the factory. Still have the orignal tires on it. I have only added a K&N air filter and an open lid.
I would like to add a B&B exhaust and '94-'95 wheels, and thats about it for now. I am still trying to get use to the power I have, don't know if I could handle anymore. The guy I bought the car from only put 500 miles on it in 5 years and never took it over 5000rpm's :yesnod:
I must admit, that is no longer the case. :D

You never will get the money out of it, if you mod it, unless someone just falls in love with your car. Obviously, if you want to be the fastest kid on the block, you will not care as much about the resale.
Probably the best of both worlds would be to make mods that are reversible, like the exhaust example above. That way you enjoy the extra hp while you own it, but can return it to stock for maximum resale.

Re: HOW MANY STOCK OWNERS (94BLACKZR1)
I consider mine stock since I can have it all back to pure stock in a day. But I gotta have the sound and the engine needs to breath at 3500 feet elevation. :chevy
