Default 1991 ZR-1 Side Emblems?

I was under the impression that ‘92 was the first year for the ZR-1 side emblems. I have seen quite a few ‘91’s on the market with the emblems, though. Assume those were added by owners and not factory? I must admit I do like the look of them, but I would have a hard timing drilling and adding them if they were assembly line correct. Someone please educate me.

You'll see '90 and '91 ZR-1 where they've been added to the hood. The OE/GM location can be duplicated by just adhesive mounting and many years ago I did a template I believe for the OE location if a person wanted to drill and mount. I have a '95 hood that was originally a ZR-1.

You are right....No 90-91 Zs left the factory with hood emblems. The previous owner put them on my '91 Z, and I think it looks better with them on the hood.

Please dont go drilling on your car, they make adhesive backed ZR-1 emblems.......But finding one in the color you want could be tricky. What color is your Z???

I agree that they look good. I am glad to hear they are reproduced with an adhesive backing. I would imagine the original hoods were pressed versus drilled.

Where should I look for adhesive ZR-1 emblems for a bright red exterior?

I don't know of anybody drilling the holes for the emblems, just cut the posts off. All of the emblems have the PST so they stick with no issues of coming off. These can be found on eBay for about $30 apiece.

I have them on my 91 from a previous owner and like 99% of the other 91s out there, the badges are set way too low. I’ve never understood why virtually everyone 91 that I see with badges has them mounted below the area 92-95s are.

If anyone has a template they use, I wouldn’t mind taking a look. I’m considering getting some new badges and doing it “right”. Although I’m not opposed to removing these for a stock 91 appearance either.

I'm one of the few that did it right, got the measurements before I put them on. I can't remember where I got the specs, maybe Google.

But that's your second install! It wasn't your first choice that I believe I mentioned I didn't care for at the time.

I have a '95 hood and several years ago I mentioned dimensions of the bores in the hood, I likely recorded it somewhere. I believe I would have mentioned height to the bores center and two dimensions to center of bores from hood rear edge. I might poke around. The hood isn't an easy reach in the basement but I might.
