Well What I suggest for complete DIY PROM burning:

Some sort of Scanning software (DIACOM, EASE, Datamaster, ETC)

Tunercat PROM editing software with the correct TDF (tunercat Definition File) for your ZR1 ($80 plus $20 for the Def. file)

PROM Programmer.. the Pocket Programmer http://www.xtronics.com I have heard good things about and is only $150. I also believ it will work with Win2K and XP. At some point that will be the programmer I buy to replace my old Needhams PB10.

BTW, I have used Tunercat for two of my friends 91 ZR1s along with another friend's 94 ZR1 and of course for my L98. It works really well

Hope this helps

EDIT= I forgot you will also need a UV eraser if you plan on using 27C256 PROMs. or you could buy the Craig Moates adapter and use the 29C256 EEPROMS

Scanning, not a problem.
Do I need Both the Tunercat and the Pocket programmer ?

Yes, Tunercat is what you use to change the parameters, and generate the bin file. The pocket programer is what you will use to "Burn" the image on the EEPROM.

Frank,

What are you using for scanning, and how do you like it for the LT5?
(I do not have a scanner yet, and have only used diacom in the past..)

http://www.tunercat.com

You can also download the editor for a 30 day trial..

and like Bans said.. the tunercat changes the file, a pocket programmer puts it on the PROM
