Any Value to a '93 Exhaust?
I have the complete factory exhaust from my long gone '93 ZR-1 and wondered if it has any value. When I had mine no one wanted factory exhaust but since it's been a while I'm just wondering.

I agree, it will probably be an NCRS person. And being one of those, I can tell you we continue to see ZR-1s at our events. Someone somewhere will want it. Might take a few months to move it, but it'll move.

It's also a good/cheap upgrade for the TPI/L98 folks. You have to adapt to whatever you're running up front (factory manifolds, long tube headers, etc.), but then otherwise it's a bolt-on with the proper hangers. Not a ton of value to it, but definitely still useful. In fact, I wouldn't mind finding a local set to put on my GS80 since I hate the way the magnaflow system looks and sounds on it now.

The 92-96 lt1 cars had basically the exact same exhaust system if I am not mistaken? I picked up a complete cat back from a 95 for 150 bucks about a year ago. As others have said if you're are looking for a numbers matching deal then they have some value, or are a nice upgrade for 84 crossfire and 85-91 l98 cars. The pipes aren't too bad, but they choke down to just over 2 inches at each muffler entry point.

The 93 cat back - the resonator in particular - has the less restrictive plumbing. I was looking at a '90 resonator at Marc Haibeck's shop and the inlets immediately choke down to just under 2", as I recall! In any case, one of the changes between the 375hp LT5 and the 405hp was the exhaust improvements.
Personally, I would not be interested in the stock '93+, preferring to choose either the Corsa or the Stainless works, or the B&B Fusion for performance: the Corsa and the B&B Fusion, (I'm told) do not drone, but they're expensive!

A stock 94 exhaust system with muffler deletes was worth about 9 horsepower and 19 lb/ft of torque at the wheels on my 91. Pretty good bang for the buck, since I got mine from a friend that was just going to toss it out.

An addendum to this thread: I had Corsas (and several others briefly) on my ZR-1s pretty much all the time I owned them. However, on my '95, I finally tired of the loud-all-the-time exhaust and went back to my original stock system but added QTP electric cutouts just in front of the mufflers (to preserve the spare tire carrier). As noted above, the stock 93-95 resonator is much more free flowing than the earlier ones and most of the horsepower loss of the exhaust system is at the mufflers. The electric cutouts allowed me to run stock quiet when I wanted, partly open for a good rumble or wide open straight-pipes loud if desired. I really liked the set up. There are several write ups and pictures of my installation on the ZR1 Net Registry forum and others, and a number of other folks also did the same thing. Marc Haibeck did the welding and installation and I fabricated a hidden rocker switch under the carpet on the passenger side of the console. Something to consider unless you are going for a pure stock look. --Bob

Yes, someone will want it. I have a '91 ZR-1 that had an aftermarket exhaust when I purchased it. It had a pretty harsh drone that I simply did not like. While the car was at Marc H's shop we installed a 93 or 94 stock system on the car. It fit my style and plan for the car much more than the aftermarket. Someone will be able to use it, just advertise it.

Its worth selling, I dont like most aftermarket mufflers on C4 they make plenty of noise stock.
Like to be able to have my fun without drawing the wrong attention. changing a muffler isnt going to make the car noticeably faster

Sadly with no interest for several months I put them in the scrap pile while cleaning my shop. I assume they will be repurposed in to something.
