Something funky going on with the intake coupling. It appears to be warped/collapsed. Interesting discoloration on the intake air horn, I wonder if related somehow. Original hoses, probably means original radiator. Tune up most likely means it’s down on power, running poorly, stalling or whatever. A dive under the plenum sounds mandatory. Doesn’t seem too bad a price for the mileage but if not doing your own wrenching, that’s going to be a potential money pit.

That price is ok if it ran right. Plan on sinking a grand or two into it..real common color combo.
Not a bad deal unless something was seriously wrong with it. Id guess coils, injectors go through the secondary system

No parts and when you find them bend over! Price is right but can you turn a wrench and have deep pockets to purchase this and that. These old cars that do not have parts in stock are a waste of time.

That is absolutely incorrect information... Also, didnt you just post a wanted to buy ad for a ZR-1? Why would you do that if you think this is the case?

As folks "fear" the repairs on these cars they will go cheaper still When I see one at below 15k for a good cosmetic example that needs a little love, I'm in.

sad day when folks walk away from a 15k z that needs some TLC. My 93 all black was darth vaders chariot but such a PITA to clean (not a waxer) that I couldn't keep 2 black zr-1 and kept the red one.

Agreed.
Bought this yesterday on the spot! 1990 Ruby Red Metallic with 50K miles. Super duper clean. Perfect seats and clean interior. Everything seems to be working. Drives great. Has an oil leak somewhere down low on rear driver side of motor.
Was asking $18K. Got it for $15.5K. Even if the oil leak is something complex and costs a grand or two if I can’t resolve, $17.5K is still cheaper than 99% of the 1990 ZR1’s out there.

black on black is a super common aka desireable color. just like red/black. making resale easier if a person decides to sell it later.
personally after having 6 c4’s im ready for some rare colours. to me, the rarer colours have become desirable but id doubt if the masses would.
doing work on an lt5 has been a piece of cake so far. no harder than a sbc.

Doncha just love the uninformed, once again what experience do you have with the car, any? I've had my car for 13 years now and the only part I've never seen for sale up until recently was a rear 91-95 CORVETTE emblem in white.

15k for a clean 50k mi Z. May be another in my future one day its smog that I worry about. At least 1 or 2 stockers I know of out here cant pass anymore.
Fake...you may not be able to go to NAPA and go buy most parts but you can find them on here. Lot of stuff I got was cheap..some free...and others want a little more just the way it is. Not had to work on unless you go after the manifold bolts...water pump wasnt horrible but tougher than the old 4 bolts 350 .not a big deal. My orignal was fine at 140k...did it just cause. Local auto parts store got me a nos 1 for 350.
They are so reliable youll never have to bother with the internals thats the beauty of them. Guy I sold mine to had almost 190k when he sold it...ZF doc took the trans apart and was blown away by how new it looked...smog report read as new. That car didnt lead an easy life!

these cars are NOT rare lots of LT5s and the interchange is good. DIS is becoming a problem, but I'm gonna fix that. Put a MS3 pro, coil on plug, and splice it in to keep the factory sensors happy, program out the engine controls, and viola, no more DIS
you don't have "aftermarket" castings and some things like the thermo stat housing fetch ridiculous prices. bah, make one. Its a box with hoses sticking out of it No way I'd pay 450 for one
but there are also the "barn finds" like a complete lt5 for 1100 yeeee oooowwwww show me more of those. When you see a 15k z that's been well cared for, I think you have the deal of the centurn
when 93s drop down below 20k I'm gonna TT one of em.

I have never come across a part that was not easily obtainable at a fair price.......
And.......The LT5 is sooooo dependable and reliable once you do a bit of initial restoration as needed
