I stay away from ethanol. Your engine will be happier with real gasoline that it was designed to use.

In NY I don't think they sell non ethanol fuel....Maybe in other states I would imagine...At least we have 93....Yet we are running low on bread and toilet paper...

Yes, we all try to run high octane gasoline for best performance.

Octane doesn't directly affect wear on all the parts, in the same way fuel additives do. Octane impedes "knock which allows more spark advance which yields better engine performance. Uncontrolled detonation can/will cause severe engine damage.

I'm lucky that I have several stations nearby that sell ethanol-free premium. I do try to use that, although I run E10 many times too. The last several fill-ups before putting her to bed in the Fall, I do put in ethanol free. I don't know if it is better or really helps, but I feel better about it

I’ve always been able to find pure gas and have used it since I’ve had the car. I have a 1990 #2899 owned since 2000 56000 on the clock now and I still run the original injectors and it still runs perfect I think due to always running pure gas and using Techron once a year.

I just got my 90 ZR1 last fall, my first Vette. I have been in auto repair all my life and am learning some of the intricacies of this car. I have a few other early high compression flat tapped cars and use 93 octane with some ethanol in it (10-15%) and add octane boost with lead additive. I also use Valvoline Racing oil with Zinc in all of them. Is this a good combo for my Z? The car has 45K and runs good with the previous owner having installed Bosch injectors. What is the best weight and type oil to run, the Valvoline Racing or something else?

The best oil for these engines is Amsoil Premium Protection 10W-40 per Marc Haibeck. His site contains a lot of useful info- zr1specialist.com

I'd consider installing his engine intake duct support hoops, throttle body coolant bypass line and performance chip. These are simple and effective ways to get the most out of your car.
