That price makes me suspicious.

Just because it is listed a 20k with "no reserve", doesn't mean the owner willl let it go for that price. It's common practice now, on Ebay, to list with no reserve and have a friend bid the car up to what you really want to get.

Of course, I am sure you can order it without the stuff, but don't the ligenfelter built engines say "Lingenfelter" on the motors in big letters. Doesnt the top end look VERY different and beefier?

hmmmmmmm

Its hard to tell that engine from a stocker ??? that would be kind of cool to have stealth power no lingenfelter markings >>>>>almost wish I still lived in Chicago ...I,d like to give it a test drive.. :yesnod:

the 368 engines built a while back don't have any markings. a receipt and confirmation from LPE is really the only way to authenticate the build (dyno helps!!!).

I bought my LPE for 40K, and was quite happy considering the car had 90 invested. now is a GREAT time to buy ZR1s, the no reserve stuff on ebay is kinda scarey, you might just score, but I would sure want some documentation and a test drive before I bought it!!!

The "Lingenfelter" name engraved on the plenum was not done on the early cars, as Ron mentioned. Engraving was part of the package on later cars unless the owner didn't want it.

The beefier plenum referred to is the sectioned and siamesed plenum that cost an additional $7K on top of the motor package. It is most useful on larger displacement engines. I know of only one LPE 385 that has it, and I know of only one LPE 415 that doesn't have it. Never have seen Lingenfelter put it on a 368.

will, the $7K is just for the Siamessed runners?
I thought this included also the dropped plenum bottom...
Do all Siamessed runners LPE 415 cars have dropped plenum bottoms?... I've seen soem siamessed runners LPE cars that would not appear to have the dropped bottom.. please explain
Thanks!

Julio,

You are right, $7k includes dropping the plenum floor. As with everything else, they evolved. First the siamese was done only (which was something Lotus had toyed with), then then bottoms were dropped for more plenum volume, then the bottoms were dropped more for even greater plenum volume. The bottom is dropped so much on one LPE 415 car that the control model under the plenum was relocated to the firewall because of no more room.

Now for the big question, how much HP does it gain. I don't know, but I suspect torque is compromised a bit for the sake of more HP. Anyone in the know please correct me if I am wrong.

Will, I've heard that the dropped plenumn is worth 18 rwhp.. don't know for sure. So all the Siamese plenums engarved with LPE are also dropped plenums?
I know Phils 415 has the std intake, also I think Hal's 91 lpe 415 has the siamesed runners but not the dropped plenum ( we saw it at BG and could not see any relocated stuff).. correct me if i'm wrong..
Does your have the dropped plenum.. GB3 told me the car still made 550 rwhp at 7500 rpms (rev limit).. how about Sanjays 415?

I don't believe it Frank - literally - notice that the final bid came in 26 seconds before the auction ended - I'll bet this was the seller's buddy or something to that effect - no way the seller let this one go this cheap. I am curious as to why noone bid on it though - one guy even retracted his bid when he saw that it was the engine that had 19K not the whole car - what possible difference could it make? That car is easily worth 45K IMHO.

If somebody really bought that car, then they should resell to double their money tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

I spoke to the seller today, about 2 hours before the auction ended. He faxed some lingenfelter documetation as well as dyno #'s.

It dynoed 530rwhp

He said it definately was a no reserve auction, and would be sold.

I would have bought this, but just bought a house. Damn!!!

I was the one that got out bid "Formula_racing" , but I am not too worried, because there is no way that car is going to that high bidder for that price, let's just see what transpires.

the ebay shennanigans are getting out of hand. I really thought about bidding on this and have the $$$ but why bother when a "buddy" is going to outbid you or the seller won't honor the sale. it's very disappointing that no one bid on this car. unreal.

I got a good deal on on LPE 368, but it was twice this price!!!

back in 93, the LPE 368 package was 22k, not cheap.
