Default 415" ZR-1 vs SUPRA, JULIO, You gotta read this!!!!!!!!!

It was going to happen sooner or later, a run for the ages!

Went out cruising last night, had on the DOT tyres & Skinnies, ran pump gas 93 Octane & NO NOS, Bottle was bone dry, I toyed with the idea of filling it up most the day of and on, but couldn’t be bothered to pull it off & drive 1 hour away to get it filled, I decided not to worry about it.

Cruised on over to Gandy Bridge @ around 11 PM, not many people about yet, so I headed on over to Clearwater & see if there are any bikes around, usually they congregate in an AutoZone parking lot & BS with each other till the wee hours of the morning.

I roll down the SR19 exit ramp heading onto US 60W, and what should cruise on by, but a red & yellow viper, sounded pretty healthy too, then a bunch of Turbo supras & a Yellow NSX run on by too, I thought, what the hell, time to go play :-)

I make the R/H turn onto US 60, I finally am able to catch up to the Viper, (I passed the Supras first just cruising along), Pull up beside him & look over giving him the thumbs up, Hey, that’s Hulk Hogan driving that car what the hell!! He pulls in behind me, I shift into 3rd & take off, and I had him pretty good too, so I wasn't sure if he was even trying, but what the heck, that was fun anyways.

By this time, the Supras had realized what’s going on & they start to catch up again, I ran a couple of them & was pulling them on a roll pretty good. I slowed down to around 20 Mph so I could hear what this one guy was shouting to me, "Hey, pull up next to that blue one" He yells, Sure OK.

By this time, we're now driving on the interstate, I get up next to blue supra, doing 60 MPH, we have a full clear road of well over 1 mile in front of us & nail it.

The ZR-1 was running with what turns out to be the top dog supra in Tampa, so I was told!

Well, what was the outcome??????????????????????????

The ZR-1 pulled him by about 1-1/2 cars, those RPM's the ZR-1 has to play with make a huge difference, I ran from 60 MPH in 3rd & was able to take the car to around 7500 RPM, the motor was screaming, We were really close all the way, but as I was able to hold 3rd gear longer than he was, I was able to pull him slightly, then I shift into 4th & he catches ever so slightly, but as soon as I get back on the gas again, I pull him once again.

We ran 4 times, all with the same results, I topped the car out n 4th gear @ 75000 RPM, no need to go in 5th, the job was done.

We exit the interstate & pull into a gas station where we all admire each other’s cars. These guys were all too cool, I come to find out that he reason they wanted me to race this Single Turbo Supa was simple, he has NEVER been beaten in a race, EVER, not from a 60 MP roll anyways. He told me that was the fastest car he has ever raced & was very impressed.

He was running 18lbs of boost &was on pump gas. They have a big Supra meet here in Tampa in September & they invited us to hang out. H had told me he would like to run my car again, but this time with some race gas & 30 lbs of boost, I said be happy to, I’ll spray you this time :-)

The great thing I find with these guys is, if you beat them, they are usually pretty cool about it, they respect the fact that you have a bad butt car as well, oh, & did I mention, they all drooled over the motor:-)

There you go, another notch for the Z, & who says these are " Under performing heavy pigs"

I'm giving the car the day of, it deserves it!

Kurt.

Yeah, i may have to do this,

BTW, The guy that I raced did say that his ws dynoed @ OVER 640 rwhp, that's currently more than 100 RWHP than mine, I guess this is where the power curve come in to play, Julio can explain this a lot better than I could ever do.

Great kill Kurt! I was lucky enough to get a single turbo Supra kill myself last weekend.

Just wait until you get to run him from a dead stop. You'll have buslengths on him.

Kurt,
That is an AWESOME Story!!!!!
I never run up on anything too interesting over in my neck of the woods
If you head to that Supra event-let me know. I'll come w/ a full bottle, and now since I figured out why my trap speeds have been abt 4-5MPH low(air duct was almost collapsing)--I should be @ full 700HP strength...
Next to your 800HP, we should have some fun w/ those Supra types ;)
BTW, did you tell them that you only had some 'bolt-ons' and that the engine's red paint that makes the car so fast...
I love this stuff!!! GO ZR-1!!!!!!!!

Sweet story Kurt - I'm glad to hear of your demolition of the Supra, as was Julio I'm sure - these big cube LT5 rock - ABSOLUTELY - I love 'em. You're producing 800 rwhp on the juice? and about 550 rwhp on the motor? That is STOUT!!! This fall will definitely spell a big inch LT5 for me - if the funds are there of course -

Should you run this supra again on the juice, please give up all the adrenaline rushing details.

I can only imagine what its like to command such power - geez, I think my stock ZR-1 is powerfull as all get out. Keep the kills coming. :smash: :smash:

Simply marverlous!!! When I lived in Orlando, I use to go to Clear Water periodically. So, I can mentally picture your encounter. I MISS FLORIDA!!! Beatiful cars and scantilly clothed beautiful women who love beautiful and fast cars.
Now I am stuck in DC with nasty, snobby women who loves mercs and bmws. :cry
