Default Assuming injector issue

Hey guys,

I am trying to help my dad out. He had me drive his zr-1 last night saying he feels lack of power. It's got 37k on it and has only had one side of injectors done- others stock. Don't ask me why someone would do that. I haven't had a chance yet to do all the research but will. It sputters under acceleration. Other than that the car is sweet!

Just looking for confirmation it's injectors and we will pull plenum ASAP.

TJ, I question the competence of any tech that would replace only one side of the injectors. So I would assume the whole job to be suspect. I'd pull them all, and have them tested. Then make sure when you re-assemble not to use any early style injectors that can go bad because of ethanol (stainless is what to use).
The quick answer is that there no way of telling what the problem is for sure. So find a good tech to analyze.

Check fuel pressure
Check replace fuel filter
Check BOTH fuel pumps
New fuel? Or old fuel?

Once that is done check for codes.

At that point you likely need to pull the plenum, and ABSOLUTELY REPLACE ALL INJECTORS.

Search this forum for a detailed troubleshoot and replacement thread.

Good luck!

Maybe only the primary Injectors were replaced leaving the secondary injectors stock...that would make more sense.

Ohm the injectors and if any bad injectors found, replace them all with quality SS injectors

Replace the Injector "O" rings when you are at it and refurbish the starter Solenoid, Valley Drain, and check Secondary Vacuum System when you are under the Plenum. You have to drain some coolant below the top of the Injector Housing before you remove the Plenum.....there are ways to rectify that coolant issue when removing the plenum but we shall keep it simple in this thread

Ethanol has ruined many injectors and fuel pumps within my collection. Luckily, the gambling casino at the Oklahoma, Texas border sells no ethanol premium fuel. PITA, as I have to take several barrels to fill up, every time I go.
