WooHoo! Just got a call from the trucker...
About a month ago I posted looking for comments about a '90 ZR-1 that I was considering. About 2 days later, I got a call from the dealer who told me if I wanted the car, I needed to buy it now because he had a local who wanted the car. Smelled like BS to me and told him if that other guy was waving folding Franklins in his face, he should take them because I wasn't in that much of a hurry. I'd rather buy right than fast and I was pretty sure I didn't want that car at that price. As an aside that dealer still has that car listed on his site, but he has reduced the price.
Found another '90 ZR-1 in North Carolina. Great mechanicals and the most detailed Carfax that I've ever seen. The Carfax had every oil change, fluid flush and mechanical repair that the car had had in the last 24 years. And just about the time I was going to pull the trigger on it, I stumbled across a '95 ZR-1 at what I thought was a great price.
The car was listed by a reputable used Vette dealer, had 2 prior owners (1st owner for about 8 years and second owner for about 12), had 22.5k on the odometer. Has both tops (the clear top still has the protective cover on it) and full documentation. I had a pre-purchase inspection done and the car had 2 issues...rear tire on the passenger side may need to be replaced and the inspector thought that there was excessive wind noise at highway speed coming from the top. You gotta wonder how bad that rear tire is if he was still willing to drive the car at "highway speed".
So...I pulled the trigger on that one and and scheduled a pickup by InterCity on 7/15. The driver called me this morning to tell me that he had picked my car up yesterday and plans to deliver it on Thursday.
And, yes, the '95 was a bit more expensive than the '90s that I had previously been looking at, but I figured that it is worth it.
Here's one of the pics sent to me with the pre-purchase inspection...
Better pics to follow probably next weekend.
I'm stoked. Like at kid at Christmas. Thursday just can't get here soon enough.

#272 She was at Conte's just calling my name.
I could not be more pleased dealing with Joe and Trish. I made the deal a little harder than it had to be. I have a friend with a used car dealership over in Dallas and we sold my 2011 C6 through his dealership. Then when I found this car, he "bought" it with "my" money and we wrote the deal up as a trade in. Since I was "trading down", I didn't have any tax to pay in Texas. In fact, that saved enough to pay InterCity for shipping and buy a six-pack of Coronas. But, Joe and Trish said they understood and had no problem writing up this strange little deal.
