Default How does the rear 'corvette' emblem mount on the back bumper?

Just wondering how I can remove the emblem and how many holes (if any) there are? Anyone have any pictures of a bare bumper?

thanks !

i think the emblem has 2 posts. the adhesive holds it on the car.Heat up the old emblem a bit with a blow dryer, get some dental floss and slide it behind the emblem using a sawing motion. this usually gets them off.

Mine had 3 guide holes in the fascia through which there are guide pins on the Corvette script.

A very thin putty knife was used to remove mine in prep for painting. But, if the paint is to be salvaged, then heat and dental floss - up to the guide pins will work, but a thin (very thin) metal 'putty knife' (I saw some at an auto body supply store) would work if you're very careful not to dip the edge of the knife toward the paint (read: keep the blade parallel with the paint as much as possible).

I used a 3M adhesive specifically designed for such emblems to reattach the script. There is a bit of a trick to doing it tho...

The 3M adhesive sets up very quickly, and the procedure requires the adhesive to be applied, and the emblem pressed onto the paint, momentarily then pulled off the paint for about 10 seconds (in order to transfer some adhesive* to the painted surface and set up a little) and then the emblem is reapplied and pressed/held for 30 minutes or so (using some masking tape to press the emblem down and stabilize it, once in place).

Hint: I found that applying a second small bead of adhesive to the first thin layer helps to better the transfer of adhesive to the paint before pulling the emblem away again momentarily.

Thanks guys. I want to remove the emblem and add my own on the back. Really wish they made the zr1 bumper like the non Z with the lettering molded in.
