The LT5 does not have a flat plane crank. If it did have a flat plane crank,. it certainly would affect the sound. A lot. FPC motors have a ripping sound at high rpm that you hear so often with the Ferrari V8's, which do use a flat plane crank. Also, I know there are a few guys who have modified their LT5's with a FPC and they sound even more awesome to me than stock.
A lot of the sound is the intake sound combined with all the valve train. That creates a very complex sound, rather than the simple big v8 sound more typical of US v8's.

"Bad" info would be the flat plane crank as it relates to the unique sound of the standard ZR-1/LT5 - which does NOT have a flat plane crank (only a few special project race prepped LT5 Lotus engines did.)
As for the unique sound, that sound you hear when you hammer the LT5 in a tunnel, for example, has NOTHING to do with the chains, I garronetee!!

its the reason why no matter how much i like the new c7 i just cannot get away from the LT5!
c7 = awsome new-age car with an average-sounding engine.
LT5 = outdated car but with a legendary engine.

This sound....especially right as it finishes up the burn out....DELICIOUS!! ...and I'm not hearing any "timing chains" or "valve train" there. Pure, unbridled wicked, exhaust.

That is exactly right. That is glorious, wicked, awesome, "muffler" (exhaust) sound.
The first two vids you posted...all I heard was transmission noise. Sounded about exactly like my stock '92 LT1. 0:00 - 0:40...
If you're looking for what makes it sound like a "jet engine", that would be the transmission...which is the same, pushrod powered or otherwise.

I think the sound is largely, maybe 95% the combination of intakes and exhaust. Of course within those sounds, you do hear a complexity that is likely a result of the 4 valves and cams and whatever affecting and just coming through the exhaust.

Is that the sound you were talking about ? Just as it passes the camera.

Here's the truth. I consulted Engineers and Designers both regarding the issue.
The LT5 burns angels and converts them to demons. The noise you hear is their lament.
You can trust me, I am a Professional.
In truth the sound is simply the resonance of the valves releasing exhaust. Like an instrument every engine has a frequency at which the pressure is released unique to each engine. Exhaust systems can mitigate or accentuate the resonant frequency.
But it's intoxicating nonetheless.
