Default Newbie to the Forum- Anyone near Scottsdale?

I'm searching for my first Corvette. I like the C4s because they seem to have the entire package: affordability, creature comforts and styling. I've been looking mainly at LT-4 6-speeds and ZR-1s for the last few weeks and found a ZR-1 in Scottsdale that I was wondering if there was anyone here could give me their opinion on it.

The Carfax is not clean and I'm not clear if the title is rebuilt/salvage. I usually stay away from that, but since I'm looking for a driver, not an investment, I'm willing to roll the dice for the right car.

If anyone is willing to help someone new to the hobby, I sure would appreciate. Please feel free to contact me here or PM me.

Thanks in advance,
Jon D.

#1772 69K miles, red, tan interior. Carfax shows it was wrecked at least once. Water pump is being replaced right now. Car looks straight for a driver, driver's seat shows some tears. I don't have any pics of the most important part: the engine bay. Heck, it may not even be a real ZR-1.

They are asking $8K because of the previous damage.

Hi Jon, the car looks pretty good for $8K and the drivers seat tears are fairly normal and can be repaired/replaced relatively low cost.
But yeah it would be good if you can get someone from here to check it out, how it runs and drives and for the repairs.

The first 5 digits will tell you more, It is almost impossible to tell for sure from the picture. There are several of us here in Phoenix that can look at it for you. That seems about $6k too cheap for an otherwise nice 69k Z, even with damage history (a good percentage of them have it, just not disclosed). Now if it was a salvage title .......The seat would be less than $200 to repair.

I've requested a copy of the title to verify. They say the new water pump should be installed tomorrow.

It appears to be a ZR1.
It has the right wheels, right bumper cover and the right exhaust tips.
At $8k it's a steal.

The VIN verifies it as a ZR-1 if what was posted is correct and the colors match up from the info I have.

8k is awfully cheap.....if it had a clean title, I would think around 15-17 would be more in the ball park for an asking price. At that price, I'd suspect the car has a salvage title, but good on you for having them send a copy.

It might be worth the 8k in parts alone, so it may not be a bad deal.

A ZR-1 with issues may not be the best idea for a first Vette, but that's just my opinion. BTW, if you join the ZR-1net Registry, that car was registered and (one of) the previous owner's email address is on there.

No, It was 7, but I don't think the red/cognac 90 stayed here. I talked to about half of the new owners, and occasionally I'll hear from one.
