First Impressions!
Ok, I finally received my new to me ZR-1 yesterday. I first want to thank the seller. Purchased it from a member here on the forum LaBoss. The car only has 12310 miles on it and it is probably as near to perfect as you can get in a 23yr old car. Very well represented and he answered all of my questions and had every scrap of paperwork for all maintenance etc, etc. Thanks again Bob.
Now to the car. The car is in fantastic shape. It looks and drives like a new car. Oh so very slight new car smell on the inside. Doors close solidly, all panels are correctly aligned, rear hatch shocks are still charged and working, paint is bright and smooth everywhere, weather stripping really good all around and the rear hatch stripping is new. I was pleasantly surprised with the power. Coming from my 1996 Viper RT-10 I was expecting to really be underwhelmed with the power as the HP numbers are 375/415 but the torque numbers were something like 368/500. I actually like the LT-5 power delivery better than the 8.0 V-10. The reason being: more usable rev range. The difference was not as big as I feared and it seems more user friendly. The steering feels tight and precise with pretty much zero play. No worn out bushings here. It is a little heavy feeling but that is confidence inspiring in the turns on the power. My Viper always felt a little twitchy because the steering was so light and to be honest it did have some play. Overall I am ecstatic about the condition of the car and I look forward to years of permagrins.
PS: The AC blew me out of the car, engine bay is super clean; the shocks are not even dusty, and the interior is primo. I will re-condition the leather but they are darned good now.

Welcome to the crowd. You'll have a blast with the car if you just get it out and drive it, I know I do. Permagrin!

Congrats on the ZR-1. The car was incredible when it came out and still can hold it' own all these years later. Sounds like you got a very well maintained car. Enjoy your new ride.

congrats on the new ride, I love them.
What made you choose the z and get rid of the viper?
Did you consider a GTS viper 97-99?
My two favorite 90s cars.

Ha, the ownership experience with the Viper was not very pleasurable. My fault mind you. I bought what I thought was a good deal just to find out it needed $9000 worth of work the first summer I owned it. That kind of money however does not go far in the Viper world. Viper Techs don't come cheap. The ZR-1 is also one of my favorite cars and I just happen to come across this deal. I would have purchased a GTS in this condition but it would cost $50k in a Viper. My new car truly is top notch. I love Vipers though and I always will.

Congrats on the purchase . The LT5 is the best engine ever built . I am buying one when we get through the winter and spring is here .
. 2014 . 1992 ZR-1 and up are the years I am looking at and I also prefer a few more miles on the vehicle knowing it has been driven and enjoyed instead of just sitting there looking pretty . Also most of the original bugs are out of the car by that year also .
I have seen cars with 400 miles on them or less and you know you will have to change all the injectors , engine gasket's , door and hatch seals , rubber hoses , and so on , so it would be way too expensive to put on the road and drive .
Again congrats and hope to be at Bowling Green next year for the C4 meet and greet

Yes the low mileage originally scared me a little but after talking to the previous owner the injectors have been changed out already and the little problems that creep up have already been dealt with. It may only have 12323 miles on it but Bob made sure he actually drove it and kept it in perfect running condition. Drove it to work today for the first time and had to sit in traffic a little, Miami you know, and she purred like a kitten. I really can't even exhaggerate how good the condition on this car is. Very satisfied with my purchase. Starting into my best time of the year to drive also. Little cooler temps and almost no rain.
PS: Bowling Green might be doable. I am from right down the road in Greenville, KY.

Thanks guys I could not be happier. Question, if and when I put on headers and a full exhaust can I delete the cats and not throw a code?
