No promoter used. I had one bubbling issue on the first piece I ever did and it had a similar soft rubbery coating that the c4s have that I didn't remove. I peeled off the wrap and stripped the rubbery coating off and re-applied it and it was great for 9 months and that included several hours in the sun every day at work. I think if there is a surface that wasn't smooth or was sanded with a rough grit.. a promoter would be beneficial.
I plan to strip the soft touch coating first before I do the console and dash trim.

thanks.. I found some grey 1080 that marches pretty close to OEM finish, so I might do that when I finish my new panels.. I would really like to remove the key on my car, but is still functions.. if I removed it I could install an EQ above my tablet.. to help with controlling it (volume and such)

but by doing that I think I would have to relocate the key

Anyone know if a non z bezel would fit right over the power key ? Or does anyone have any pics of the dash with the radio trim piece removed on a z?

The Key assembly is mounted to the dash panel, so I think you can bury it behind the dash

see just below the tablet:

That looks fantastic ! Im not a stereo guy how did you interface the tablet to the speakers? Im guessing heaphone port to rca to the amp?

Happy to hear the key can be relocated ! ive debated on using the key hole for a push start button but im not sure how involved that may be and I don't want to start piling on little projects just yet.

The daily driver is done. Happy with it. I think its relevant since the car is really a stroker or heads/cam fund on wheels for the zr1

Ive been posting up some pics on FB not even sure if theyre in this thread so I thought Id throw them up here as well..

Nope, I actually used a USB DAC, I have a custom ROM on the tablet and the Audio goes through the USB DAC to the Amps.. much better/cleaner signal than the headphone port

Hi Charles, I have a small piece of foil tape between the tips at thefront end of the tips so its not visible but it still does touch. if it does melt ... all the more reason to buy a callaway aerobody kit

Finally a tiny update but I wanted to start posting since this thread does help motivate me to keep working away at the (too) many things I have planned for it. Good news is shes back on the road. Just waiting for the rain to clear before enjoying driving again.

Small update for now, Got the momo wheel wrapped.. and installed.

and installed.. ill get some better pics. quick release is on as well

Looks great,Mike. Really like the carbon fiber treatment on your wheel.

I hope to install a Momo wheel w/quick release hub on our car later this year. Just hope I can get the horn to work this time.

No I haven't. I have been planning to pick up a pair of headlight covers from the local parts place but he's close to the border and I haven't had anything to pick up as of late.

For now I spray painted the Forced air plate cover. I had it at a body shoppe for the last few months but they've been so busy they didn't have time to spare one of their booths.. and I knew it just wasn't worth it for them for a small piece. I decided to just spray it myself temporarily. One to practice my rattle can skills.. if any.. and since Ill have the car down when I send the plenum out I can always drop it off then to a different body shoppe to paint.

was rattled black so I started sanding..

I gave it two thin coats but it was wrinkling the paint underneath so I sanded it again ..

Turned out ok not sure how the match is just yet.. washed the forced air setup will get it on tonight.

Took her for a drive yesterday and snapped some pics will post up shortly.

Thx ! Ill be replacing the square headlight with a lower profile rectangular light and cutting the bracket/frame as well as the painted covers. In the end.. when the headlights are flipped the plan is to have them half the height.

Mike, how does that momo wheel feel while you are driving? Do you feel a little more connected to the road and feel whats happening from the tires a little more since there is less mass there to soak up vibrations? Also curious if your column has a little bit of diagonal play in it from the 2 o clock to 8 o clock position? And if the new steering wheel makes the play more noticeable or not?

I purchased the Marc Haibeck over sized pin to help cure the column play, and it did to an extent but there is still some. Just don't want it to be more noticeable with a lighter steering wheel.
