94 zr1 start after 3+ years storage
Hei there,
Sorry for my absence on the forum for so many years. No way to share any time over this period of time...
Just to let you know that after letting my 94 ZR1 (which I have owned for 14 years) in the garage for more than 3 years without igniting the engine (no way to take care of it during this period), I suddenly decided to try whether it would run.
First I took the wheels off to have each quasi-flat tire inflated.
Then I took off the 3-year dust over the car (it looks like new!).
I then plugged the battery
I did not empty nor fill any gas in the tank (not a good idea I guess).
I did not change any fluid;
Well, after 5 seconds ooching, the engine started!
I left the car for 10mn at idle, then drove it for 15 mn.
It was just fine, and found this amazing. I felt myself as excited as if it was the first time I drove it! And I now look forward to try to go to Le Mans 2013 after 5 years of absence over there (I live in Luxembourg - next to France)
Anyway, not sure I will use it so much, but I have never had the courage to sell it...
just happy to share this emotional moment with you
cheers

Melting Slicks
Many years ago, I also put mine away for what I thought might be a month or two, so no prep at all, just a cover.
Turned out to be over two years!
Removed the cover.
Rolled it out.
Aired up the tires.
Hooked up a battery pack.
It fired up in under 2 seconds, as if I had just parked it.
Now I know that was foolish, but it was unplanned.
I certainly do not recommend doing it that way, but.....
I am still amazed!
These motors are awesome!
Must go drive it now!
