1990 Hush Panel/Knee Bolster question
Hi All,
I have a question on the need for the plastic panel, connected to the upholstered knee bolster, that surrounds the clutch and brake arms and is above the gas pedal all the way to the firewall. On my 1987 L98 I did not have that plastic stuff so why is it necessary in 1990 ? What in the design of the interior did the plastic help ?. It can't be noise because in a ZR1 who cares. Does anyone have an answer ?
Cheers

Safety Car
I does hold a floor lamp and supports a couple of wire harnesses possibly, but I have seen many a high mile GM car missing that part. Just makes for one more thing to take off when you need to work down there.
Now the knee bolster? I would keep that for safety to keep sharp edges away from your legs in case of a crash.
I personally think it is to provide a little more sound insulation and to keep dirt out of the lower dash area.
