Default Look at mine if you will

In 1993 there were a lot of Not for Sale ZR-1's:

001-009 are WD1 - Pilot Vehicles
010-014 are WD2 - Prototype Vehicle and YE8
015 is listed as the Vehicle Lead Unit
021-023 are WD2 and YE8

Now we can add 017 to the list, so at least 19 of the first 23 ZR-1's in 1993 were supposedly Not for Sale.

See "my Corvette photos" for pix of CPC label.

The label is half torn off, but the electronic test leads by the dozen still remain. The title shows GM owned my '93 for three years, but all the other paperwork was apparently thrown away by the first buyer. If anyone has info on
how to reproduce that paperwork, I'd love to know.
What is the Serial # of this car?

5800170.

I have to correct myself....I only had the Georgia title from the 2nd owner (after GM), which did not show GM. I'm thinking it had the GM Michigan title, then the 2nd owner, from I think Indiana, then the guy I bought it from in Georgia.

It was carfax who showed GM as owner for a few years.

I wish I could get more info on the car.

It looks like a lot of engineers and execs wanted 405hp ZR-1s to "test"...

These cars and their development have always fascinated me.

We went to a Rose City Vette show in '97 while at the Pacific NW gathering. There was a beautiful Ruby Z that was awesome! There were some grease pencil markings in strange places. Don't remember if there were any stickers.

Can anybody take a direct "head on" photo of these stickers, or point me to a site that has such photos, so I can reproduce them for my "mule" car, 1993, number 170.

That photo was taken of the bottom left corner of the MSRP window sticker for #017. You should be able to order one for your car from the museum.

Do all of the 92+ cars have that rubber line leading from the master cylinder reservoir down below the booster? Does it lead to the clutch hydraulics? I know that line's not there in my 91.

I looked into the VIN/RPO for 1993 #170 and there was nothing special about the data.

I wonder what the procedure is that GM has to follow to get a NFS car to be sellable. I believe that they have to certify the car meets the applicable emmissions standards. Does GM have to file any paperwork to be able to sell the car?

I imagine they just rejigger it....you can take the cats off one and play with the vac hoses and hold your nose and cross your fingers and get it to pass emissions...barely. In Texas, you can't even title it without it passing. Texas has gone really downhill in documentation requirements and red tape....not to mention the billions and billions we are in debt...sorry, rant ended.

Bumping a real old post here....this 1993 ZR-1 #19 was my wife's car. I'd love to find it, been searching with no luck.....

She saw it once at a car show after she had gotten rid of it and it was not looking as good as when she owned it. Seemed like it wasn't taken care of too well.

That's my old car, it had the same NON SALEABLE sticker under the console. I spoke with John Heinricy about the car 2 times. He couldn't tell me what the car was used for but guessed an interior test car? It had tape residue inside the cup holder area from some type of device taped to the console. It was a runner I know that. That car also had an early windshield with the larger opening. I still have the original seat leather to the car.

ktsanf when did you own #19?

My wife bought it in FL in 2001 and sold it in CT to Crowley Chevrolet in 2006. When did you own it?

I'm pretty sure I sold it to you . I bought it from the GM auction after GM let her go.

H&H Corvette ring any bells? She said that is where she bought it. She loved this car. We have a 2003 Z06 now, but she loved that ZR1....

Thanks for replying, pretty cool to get a little history.

Interesting.
My # 181 also has an earlier windshield.
Everyone has always suspected an early on replacement due to delam, as the car was at the dealer for quite some time, but this may warrant further review, as there were no signs of removal or work to the area.
Anyway, your early on car certainly has a special trait that is for sure with its delivery to GM!
Cool!

What is the windshield "bug" information on your windshield. I believe you could determine the originality from that "bug". It might be interesting to post also the "bug" on the door glass.

Marty that seems late to have an early windshield but back in the day when we were messing with a lot of Z's and C4's in general we had Z's with normal glass (almost new cars) and base C4 Coupes that had the Z's solar glass. Only saw this twice and each time they were 94's fully loaded cars, Sport Seats, FX3, 6 speed's. I spoke with Jerry at the plant at the time and he confirmed it. Things like this have happen since the beginning of these cars. We run into factory mistakes all the time on C2's and C3's, "They" say it usually happened on a shift change?

My 92 has yellow grease pencil "date 12 16 91L" written on the inside of the hood on the drivers side I haven't seen that before.
