Never tried to get 5th gear going so 145-ish topped out in 4th a few times.
The C4 just makes so much more wind noise and I honestly didn't trust my clear top at the time which was cracked until I replaced it. A little less dramatic to take my C6 to 180mph in the desert so I guess I didn't really feel the need to run the ZR-1 to V-max.

Once while on the freeway straight away out in the wilderness, no cars in front of or behind, I decided to open it up. I took it up to about 125 and then back to 65. I could tell it had plenty left to go.

173 mph. qn the third day I had the car.Coming back from L.A. to Fla
Bone stock, it felt great. Over 150 it really settles down, feels goood.
But in the 170's it climbs slow and you get a chance to think about things like,.... I've never been on this road before.....my only son is riding shotgun, if we go, it's the end of the brand....what if a tire blows?
I backed off and brought it down to 120, which, at that point, felt like a "moderate cruise".
Then, cresting a rise in the road, there they were. A Texas highway crew clearing a bunch of dead wild pigs from the road that had been killed by an eighteen wheeler. I nailed the brakes and managed to slip past them at 90mph. Very scary.
The Kid then took the wheel and brought it up to 155 before we both chickened out again.
Top speed, not my thing, but if you own a ZR1 and haven't been north of 150, what did you buy the damn thing for, posing?

From my high speed experiences on german autobahn I can repeat one more time:
CARE ABOUT REALLY GOOD BRAKES!
Many ZR-1 owners like to do impressive power upgrades but don't think at all about stopping safety.
The stock trash is not made for high speeds. When you love your life and care about other people, upgrade your brakes as well.
When you want to drive fast and feel save, the car must be prepared for. It means, good brakes, good tires, good shock absorbers, bearings with no play, good wheel alignment. Then it makes real fun to hammer the beast when the traffic allows.

NO Stop lights anywhere, NO traffic, and there are NO county, city, and state highway cops anywhere, and NO animals of any kind that cannot swim and those that swim.....just swim away
Got 140 with UL LOSE and ULNOTWN with much more available.
No one has mentioned TIRES!!!!
What Tires are you guys using for speeds over 150 mph?
I did not want to go faster on TIRES I have no clue of history
