Have you tried running a stop watch on the odometer as it rolls through the miles to get an average speed?

This is not for more than a mile though. Fastest cruise was at 140 mph for about 20 miles - felt awesome - car really is meant to cruise at those increased speeds.

As for your top end that day back in 2006 Ted, I had the G6 pinned at 125 when you FLEW by me like I was going back in time!!! You had to be doing at least 175 mph - VERY NICE! Luckily the guys who left before us had 5 state troopers all over them (all three of them got BIG tickets) which is why we had an open road for FUN! LOVE IT!!!!
Those were perfect conditions that night... and you really know how to egg a guy on! Was it 3 times you passed me while I was behaving myself? All I know about the speed is this... that was the fastest that the Z has gone at anytime since I started driving it!

Put the SILVER STATE on your bucket list and you will want to do it every chance you get. Your 415 would be a lot of fun for you and who ever was brave enough to ride along!

Well I consider myself very fortunate to live in Germany and actually get to drive this car. The fastest I have ever been was 172mph and was still accelerating a hair, about 2 car lengths behind a new Porsche 911. Then we ran a sustained 150+ through a curvy stretch of the autobahn, never shifting out of 4th. I was right at redline the hole time. Afterwards we pulled over and talked, he was quite surprise with the Zs performance. He said he did not like to drive his that fast, that it felt flighty in the front. At 68/32 weight distro..I guess so.

Back in June I drove from near Frankfurt to just outside Venice. All through Germany where there was no limit I cruising at 120-130 with burst up to 160. When I hit Switerzland I had to slow down they have a speed limit. Same in Italy. However if a car of interest pulled up next to me, I would flex my might a little I stopped to get gas and eat in Switzerland. When I came out of the restuarant there was a tour bus full of people surrounding my car. I got in back up slowly, they barely moved, I rev'd it up a little, the crowd parted a bit, so I dumped the clutch and lit'em right there....I know, I know, stupid American. I just couldn't resist. Got LOTS of looks everywhere I went, treated every stop light/sign like a christmas tree...once again, couldn't help it. Drove back through Salzburg, Austria. Boy was I glad to see the Wilkommen to Deutschland sign along with the unlimited sign...so I hammered down. I averaged 19ish mpg each way. What a great trip.

I routinely drive sustained at 100-130mph in all my cars. In the Z, I try to hit 160 everytime I am in it.

After living here for 4 years, other than idiots drivers, I see no reason why many stretches of American highways can't be unlimited....STAY OUT OF THE LEFT LANE YOU STUPID F(*^KS....pass and get over. Really simple concept, you should see how well it works.

One time I was cruising at 140mph in tow of a totally black-out Porsche with no badges. At 140 he downshifted or stomped it and absolutely ran away from me. There was nothing I could do about it. Maybe it was a Ruf or Gembala???? He must have been up to 200ish in just a few seconds.

Love this car.

95, #7, 19K miles, drm on beige, bought it from Paul Dehnert in 2006. He showed me his Lingenfelter TT Zr1 and his 415. We went for a ride around Austin, he was breakin it lose at 50-60 in traffic. Everytime saying "that will put a smile on your face." A normal C5 pulled up next to us, so he lit it up and kept up with him. RIP

Many years back, in 1995, when my car belonged to the pre-owner and was a Twin-Turbo we went together at Car Show in Frankfurt/Germany and had a nice race on speedlimit free Autobahn against a Ferrari F40.
The Z' pulled 344 km/h (212 mph) on the speedometer. That was damn fast.

When I had my Red 91, my Dad came up to live for a few weeks after Katrina.... I let him drive it and we took it up to 160 with him driving. After I told him we were on GSC he slowed down. Risky, but fun. God I miss these cars.....

To stay right except to pass would require brain surgery on millions of drivers to learn that common sense courtesy habit.

Besides... without guard rails and smooth roads your asking for trouble. Our freeways are pretty rough in socal and will not be improving anythime soon. Not to mention tire failures are high on the list for causing problems at triple digit speeds.

I would like to to see some dedicated autobahn style roads that required certain vehicle requirements and licensing.

Well...the F40 was nowhere.
It's incredible how strong a mad Twin-Turbo LT5 pull.
Even in the Z's slip stream the Ferrari was not able to follow above +120 mph.
I had a wonderful day, the tuned Fiat driver probably not.

Come on Man ! You live in New Mexico Plenty of room to run over there. You might consider arranging the "phone a friend" early on a Sunday morning and have him cruise several miles ahead of you at the start.

Or... if you have a pilot friend that will scout out a section for you in real time. A good source told me that is what the Ferrari club did a few times outside of Vegas.
