I've been looking at a 93 Ruby that is for sale, but the windshield has a small chip in it about the size of a bb up high at about rear view mirror height. I'm wondering what the cost and availablity of a windshield might be for that car, does anyone have any info they can share? The owner says it's been like that for years, but I'm a little worried about it.I know these are special but not sure what the cost might be.Thanks for any help!

I had a star a little larger than a BB in mine and had it repaired to where you had to be looking for it to notice. I later took out that windshield that had rock pecks and delamination, sold it for $800. The hardest part is finding one NOS or excellent condition. Prices can go from $500-2500 or more.

very hard to find a 93-95 original windshield, harder to find than the 90-92. If you found one it could cost $1500- $2500 .whiteracing products has reproductions available but they won't pass NCRS judges since they are not correctly stamped.
If you are not hung up on originality then you can replace it with a standard C4 windshield at a small fraction of the cost of a used ZR-1 one or one of White's look-a-likes that still don't pass NCRS judging for full point value. A standard Vette windshield does not have the heat reduction lamination in the glass or the lighter area by the steering wheel for "a garage door opener". Whatever route you take make sure you also replace all the rubber gaskets to prevent water leaks. Only a ZR-1 OEM purist will realize you have a standard C4 windshield vs the ZR-1 unique one.

As stated have the spot repaired.Even if these windshields were readily available its such a pain in the ass to replace, its not worth the hassle.Ask me how I know?[IMG][/IMG]
I always wonder why they went to all this trouble to develop the laminated windshield in the first place. I live in south Florida and even after 15 years my AC blows so cold, I just don't get it. It's never even warm in my car. I consider this over-engineering.

Thanks for all the response!I think I would just have it filled! The car is a 30,000 mile car, original owner, buy very little paperwork.I'm considering offering$23,500. His asking is $28,000.00
