My ZR1 did not get one bid on ebay. I have posted it on many sites. I have got some okay trades, but nothing to jump on.
I have sold some very expensive toys this year. Not for top dollar, but okay considering the times.
This car is not flawless, but very presentable. The paint has some minor issues, the interior has no major wear, good idle, great throttle response, loud, fast, rides firm and drives like it is on rails.
I see people talking on here about salvage title cars and willing to pay top dollar. This is a car with a clean title. Are the sum of the parts worth more than the whole. I had tirekickers wanting my motor, but all fell through. Even had one gentleman give me a deposit on the motor, but back out.
I have only seen a handful of these cars sell over a couple years. I love corvettes and have owned twelve of them. They are incredible cars considering the technology when in production. Unfortunately the ZR1 is one of the Lemons. The parts availability and there current value considering the tremendous cost when new. One of the greatest things about a vette has always been the built in resale value. If you bought it right. You can always sell it quick and not for a loss.
Please speak up. Everyone has an opinion and I was just trying to give an honest one of my own.

I was also surprised you didn't get a bid, with 10k being minimum and 12.5k or so reserve. In this case the motor and the mods, parts would probably be worth more.
Tell me about the engine, yr, mods, etc. Stock gears? Miles on chassis? What all parts mentioned go with car? May be interested for track days car. You can Email me, jerry@jerrysgaskets.com. Only problem I have is where I'm going to put it!

I always thought a "Lemon" in the automotive world related to many problems or issues, having owned one I must have been one of the lucky ones who had very few issues, some of which were self inflicted.
The economy is in the tanks right now and the ZR-1 is not the only thing thats down price wise. Look around at what the 66-71 Hemi cars are now selling for, the ones that are actually selling are at about 1/2 of what they were 2-3 years ago, same as the mid-years, they are way down as well.
If you bought a car for investment purposes, now is not the time to cash out. This is nothing new within the automotive world, this has happened before and will happen again, we are now going down towards the valley, we may have not hit bottom yet but it will come back, its just a matter of when!

Aaa, no. IF you bought right, you could usually make money. A quick sale has usually meant a loss. Most people lose money on corvettes, but write it off to entertainment. Corvettes are, and have always been toys. They are bought with discretionary income. Once they get 10 years old, financing has always been a problem. They are a store of value compared to most cars, but if you factor inflation, most vettes are not very good investments. I don't know what you are into the ZR-1 for, but I'm guessing you probably would have "lost" as much money on any other car (including any corvettes after model year 1967, with a handfull of exceptions).
I am only 42 years old and have bought and sold more corvettes than most have looked at. I have been doing this since I was twenty years old. I know corvettes. I do this for the love of the cars and some pocket change. It would be nice to have the resources to keep the rare and prestine ones.
I bought a 71 big block automatic car yesterday. It is already sold today.
My point is the ZR1 has no value. These cars are just not selling at any price.
Never predetermine a car before you see it, because you obviously have no clue. The problem with todays car deals are too many keyboard junkies that have all the answers.
This particular car is not a piece of junk. If someone has some cash. put your money where your keyboard is and make an offer.
WTF? You come on a ZR-1 forum and tell us our cars are lemons and that they have no value? Seems like your about $12500 high than on your price, by your reasoning. I haven't seen your car in person and have made no value judgements on it. Seems that you are the only one here with the negative comments on it. You might be surprised at how many cars some of us have bought and sold. So you bought a ZR-1 and can't flip it. Boo Hoo. Sometimes that happens to the best players. Bad mouthing ZR-1's probably isn't the best marketing strategy.
I was not trying to hurt you die hard ZR1 owners feelings. If you read my post I stated "they are incredible cars".
There have been a lot of great cars dubbed lemons for one reason or the other. It is unfortunate the factory did not support the motor program better (parts supply). The short supply raises the cost of the few parts available. People are unable to work on their own cars or find competent mechanics for the LT5. When someone can buy a ZR1 for the same money as a comparable condition L98 or LT4 car that stinks.
I did not buy this car to flip. I bought it to do some serious modifications. I do not have the time right now for taking this car to the next level. I thought a car with all the parts everyone wants would at least get some serious bites. I will keep this car if it does not sell soon and make one of the baddest ZR1's in the country. The only thing you will see is my wide rear leaving you in the dust.

No offense taken. I read your post as a positive towards the ZR-1 and read your "lemon" comment more as a description of your business talents. Everything you said about the ZR-1 was true years before you bought this one, you just didn't do your research or you got greedy. To continue the fruit metaphors, it sounds like you have sour grapes now. Not all picks are winners and you should know that if you've been doing this for as long as you say. Good luck with your sale. If you build a beast, keep us posted and welcome to the brotherhood.
