Default Side Bolsters

The side bolsters on both seats appear to out of order. The pumps work fine, it seems, as they pump up the lumbar support. Is there anything else besides the bolsters that can be checked or replacement the only option? Are they still available and from where?

Thanks in advance

Jim

As a footnote, these were supposedly replaced three years ago by a dealership in CA. Don't see why they would go bad so soon

The side bolsters or wings as they call them are controlled by a rocker switch located at the very front of the seat by the outside corners, they are facing the dashboard and just below the front seat cushion, left side switch would be to the left corner of the seat, right side would be towards the right corner of the seat.

The lumbar support is controlled by a pump that fills all 3 bladders, the side bolster has a mechanical motor that moves them in or out, depending on your level of comfort and fit. This is why they call them wings..

What usually goes bad are the diaphrams in the lumbar support motor, once they go they will not pump up the lumbar bladders.

Hope this helps

Default bolsters

hi, my pass. side bolsters did not work on my 1991 zr1. they were stuck in the most open position or widest setting. i tried the switch on the front of the bottom of the seat several times over the years with no results. one day i decided to try it again and i asked my wife to work the switch while i pressed inward on the bolsters. i was able to get the bolsters to begin to work again. i worked them in and out several times after freeing them up and now they work as designed. i dont know if they were frozen up or over centered and just needed a little help. you might give this a try, it may work. see ya

On a '90, which is what his avatar is, they are on the seat cushion.

On the driver's seat, I believe it's on the left side. There is one switch for the seatback angle, and one that controls the wings. As said, the lumbar pump does not move them.

The 94/95 seats have a connection on the bottom of the drivers seat has two connectors that can be plugged upbackwards causing something like that.
