Well took the Z to Sacremento today to do some X-mas shopping and after buying a couple ep rc airplanes we ended up at the Sac Lexus dealer and taking a very nice long test drive in a 2009 lexus ISF, man not to bad for a lexus 416hp 8 speed auto with a paddle shift and evey option needed. Has anyone here driven one or own one?
I am seriously thinking of selling the z right now and buying a 2010 ISF and in a couple of years buying a 94-95 Z I just cant think of not having a ZR-1 but man o man this ISF was pretty wicked it has a very very wild sound at WOT and seemed to handle pretty good. I guess I am looking for someone else on the forum that may have one and get some real feedback from an owner. Any info would be great. thanks.
My partner has one, and yes it is fast! In terms of performance a C5Z will walk all over it. It is supposed to compete with Audi RS4 BMW M3 etc. It's very nice inside and fun to drive. I don't like the paddle shift. Bottom line is I would not trade my ZR1 for it (IMO).
Thanks for the reply, in terms of performance i know there is not a chance in hell the ISF is faster than my zr-1 but for a 4 door sedan it did seem to have some pep and had a very good exhaust note. But the c4 z is still one mean machine and i love it i really really love it.
Get rid of a ZR-1 for a Lexus (which is really just a glorified Toyota )? Not a chance in hell.
For one thing, it will take you a long time to sell your Z for a good price. This is a really bad market for selling things, especially cars.
Plus, I think once you did get rid of the Z, that lexus/toyota will probably not seem that great after awhile. You will definitely miss the Z.
Go on a spirited cruise with some fellow C4/C4 ZR-1 owners, you will forget all about that "other" car very quickly.
You should think about going on the Death Valley run that PLRX set up, thread is here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-g...mber-21-a.html. I know it's a really far drive for you, but I think it would be worth it. Plus, I'd love to get a chance to see your ZR-1 and hear that LT5 in person, since my Z will be down for quite awhile.
If you wait a couple of years the 94-95 ZR1's will be selling for 1/2 of their price today. They simply have no collector value except to a very few hold outs.

I too like the ISF. It is a nice car. I wasn't looking to replace a Z but the M5. Didn't make sense from a $ perspective.
If you like the ISF, find an E39 (recommend 2002 or 2003) M5. You can keep the Z and get the M5 plus take a vacation all for the ISF. The M5 is a tremendous car. Have had one for 3 1/2 years. The car will run with a stock ZR-1 until close to 100.

So let me get this straight, you are saying a 94/95 ZR-1 is going to sell for $20,000 in a couple of years?
Thank you my Z bretheren, I love my Z would not trade sell or anything else but drive it like I stole it, well I do flog the crapp out of it everytime I drive it.
Demps the only other car I have thought about is the M5, I need to get up close with one in the next month or so. Its not going to be mine but it will be if you know what I mean, Im just trying to get something reasonable as far as price and performance for the other half as a daily driver and so far the ISF is looking pretty nice for about 45-50k used with 10-25k mileage. But I am going to look at maybe an M3 and an M5 for sure.Thank you guys.
If you're considering the choice of an M3/5 vs. the Lexus, just add up the future maintenance for both. The Beemer will cost double or more to keep on the road. When it comes to quality the Lexus is considered king. Can't say about the driving experience, though (but that is a lot of HP).
Thanks D916, this is what I am looking for, some feedback on anything i can get as far as other lexus owners or knowledge of the ISF. Iknow they have only been out for a few years so just hoping some one on the forum may have bought one and could share anything.
Why would you think a '94/95 won't follow the pricing of the early cars?
To the OP, are you looking for an automatic? And just to put it out there, have you thought about a CTS-V?
Because they won't. It's just like saying ZR-1's are dirt cheap and can be had for the teens. It's not true - anytime, I see 90's that are nice with lower mileage they are selling $20,000+
The 94/95 has already been hit very hard and I've seen them 30's low 40s.
Aurora, yes i am looking for an auto or semi auto and the cadi has not crossed my mind untill you mentioned it so I will look at that also as I have always been a cadi fan my first car was a mettalic pink 1959 propane powered cadi and I drove it thru highschool.
The "fake" exhaust on the IS-F is a joke IMHO. Why do this on a $60K car? CTS-V is a few thousand more but it out runs the IS-F, has more room and was designed into this 2nd gen CTS from the beginning by the GMPD. The "F" was somewhat of an afterthought design to the existing IS car line, the front end was extended to make room for the
larger V8, etc...

I agree 100% with the maintenance (I owned one) and quality you get from Lexus.
