Lingenfelter Twin Turbo?
I read in another post that there is still one Lingenfelter TT for sale. What is the cost of this upgrade.

Re: Lingenfelter Twin Turbo? (Hammer)
I think I read in another thread quite a while back that LPE charged about $50k just for the Twin Turbo LT5 conversion. While I can understand why Paul D would want to limit the number of cars for resale and exclusivity reasons, it pretty much sucks for just about anyone else who may have been able to pay for one of these setups.
I thought all four were spoken for also but I too saw in another thread that the last one is still up for grabs... Interesting.
Check out http://www.corvettemagazine.com/ if you haven't already. They have a writeup on one of the LPE TT ZR1's (now there's a mouthful :)).

Limited quantities and supercar status mean the LPE TT ZR-1's will bring the big bucks in the future. Right up there with the ZL-1's.

Re: (scorp508)
Neither one. That person didn't want to pay for all the R&D costs for everyone else to get a cheaper installation. At least, that's kind of the story I heard. Remember how much that first Callaway(and Mallett) TT ZR-1's cost? Seems to me it was way over $100K. Plus,it's easy for us to talk about having LPE build us one. John Lingenfelter probably knew they wouldn't be doing many TT conversions. TT C5's? Yes. TT ZR-1's? No.

All aluminun Can Am racing block installed in two production 1969's and no other year. Price for the block and heads then was as much as the rest of the car.

Re: Lingenfelter Twin Turbo? (Hammer)
It was John Lingenfelter who contacted Paul D. with the proposal for the twin turbo. Paul read over the proposal and he and ? together counter offered with John the cars to be built. As we all know, there are currently three built with the fourth under construction. The fourth is a former 385 ci motor that they will put a stock crank back in.
Now, if there are four more people out there who want twin turbos I am sure it can be arranged through someone in Texas. Do not expect this work to be done for $10k. Fully expect to pay the same amount. I saw the work on Paul's car and I gurantee you LPE did not make a dime on those cars. It was a work of art. I have seen three Formula 1 factories and the work rivaled any of those manufacturers. Prior to seeing Paul's car, I always thought LPE did good quality work but really nothing extaordinary. The work definately changed my mind.

the LPE TT cars are a jewel to be sure. and while 54K sounds like alot, fabrication is not cheap and tuning on an LT5 with twin hoovers is not for the faint of heart.
I drooled over pauls car for hours. there were MANY cherry ZR1s at BG, but paul's car held my interest most. much nicer than the callaway setup with the turbo set much more "stealthy".
once the car spools, it's a runaway freight train.

Re: Lingenfelter Twin Turbo? (Rkreigh)
One big deal with LPE's cars is that the turbos are where they should be and not too far down the exhaust stream. Sure, they were basically forced to use an inefficient log header but it is clear to me that any inefficiencies were offset by the advantages of the turbo placement. Neither the Callaway nor the Mallett cars had the turbos positioned correctly.

Re: Lingenfelter Twin Turbo? (Hammer)
hey ZR1, would you ever consider doing a twin turbo ZR1???
as you know from me flapping my jaw (uh fingers??) that's what I want to do as time and fundage allow.
I'm serious, and will help with MANY ideas on how to make it happen.
I now have the perfect starting point.
let me know.

As far as I know Mallett made one ZR1 twin turbo for a customer who planned on either open road racing or a top speed record run (I think it was the latter).
I understand the motor made 800hp (or more) but it was later replaced by a turbocharged 396 or something like that because of reliabilty issues with the TT LT5. Mallett moved the rear axle back to aid high speed stability, used a thinner windshield and quite a few other things like putting motorcycle headlights where the front license plate goes, adding a large "clothesline" rear wing, etc.
Twinnie posted this pic of the Mallett ZR1 motor here a long time ago. Here it is again:
I have an old Vette magazine article here but can't scan it because I have scanner software probs at the moment... :mad.

Re: Lingenfelter Twin Turbo? (ZR1)
I've seen two LPE TT C5's and the work incredible. Looks stock, drives like stock... and then feels like a 747 (literally) taking off. Would be nice to have that option on the ZR1... like a supercharger (those seem to be cheaper than turbo's because of plumbing issues).
Has anyone looked into doing an intercooled Vortech'd ZR1? I remember someone was going to reverse the plenum and try to mount one (an eaton unit?) in the valley at one point.
