Have any of you got any experience with either one on a ZR-1.. any sotp difference.. I know what has been said on the"X" vs. "H" pipe, but i'm looking for first hand experience on the Zr-1..

Julio,
you are the big boy when it comes to ZR-1's...
Aren't you just going to use the resonator from a Tri-Flo or similar? I think that should do you fine without needing to go to a customized type system. My .02...

George, thanks for the complement...I currently have a 3" with no cats or resonators and I have the "H" pipe. I'll be replacing the mufflers with the 3" straight thru magnaflow, and part of the rear piping to hook up to the mufflers, so all comes even.
I was running the super turbo Mufflers Lt-1 style with the chrome square tips. Problem is these mufflers, although quiet, are 2-3/4" inlet and 2-1/4" inside!!!, the outlet is 2" or so before the square tips. So I figure I might pick up a couple of ponies by changing to the 3" straight thru design... Are you running the resonator on your Tri flow?

P.S you are also one of the BIG BOYS!!!

Julio,if I remember correctly, the Vette Doctors have installed & dynoed both on ZR-1's. You might give Carmen a call and see what he says.

Julio, I'm running a plain 'ol Tri-Flo system, w/ resonator intact... I think you'll more than likely make out better w/ an X, instead of an H...

in theory the X would work a bit better. I don't think the different would be that great. the X would hopefully route the gases/pulses between pipes more efficiently. I don't think either one will be significantly better and packaging might be the biggest issue.

On my old BB chevy, I gained 7 hp by adding the H. it wasn't easy to do an X pipe because of the spread of the pipes. on the C4 either one should be easier to implement. I wonder about how the sound will differ too. I'm betting the difference between the two would be less than 5 hp.

Now I don't consider myself a big boy of this group, but I run a merge pipe it is like an x-pipe but not as extreame. It equalizes the pressures between the banks with better flow. The NASCAR guys all run the merges and that must mean something. If you have an intrust in them my mechanic makes them and ships them, his name is Rich(the owner) at Kimble Motorsports in Boise, ID 208-323-9950.
