Default What too look for in a zr1 to buy?

Any help that you guys can give would be appreciated. I have been looking for a ZR1 (older one) for our oldest son who is station in Iraq. He has money saved up and would like for me to purchase him a car befor he returns this summer for a little leave. We have a c4 and a c3 and are familar with those but just what do we need to look for in this one. Are high mileage cars ok or one with 30-60k be better.

Thanks gang for the help looking foward to the replys!wro87

Doesn't seem to be a big difference in the 40k-80k cars in general. There can be individually however. I would be FAR more concerned with condition than mileage. If your not planning on using it more than several thousand miles a year (and most aren't anymore), there are some good values in the 80k-120k range (and higher), and ZR1's tend to be in far better condition than other C4's with 50k+ less miles (pride of ownership). The engines are good for 200k+, and everything else is C4. The zr1net registry is a very good source, and most ZR1 owners would jump at the chance to help you/look at a car for your. Oh, and tell your son thanks!

First off how much do you want to spend, that will get you going in the right direction and as stated all the info you will ever need is right here and on the ZR1 site. And many thanks to your son for his service,we think of them all every single day.

136K miles on one of mine and it runs 12.8 @112.68 near stock...so no worries from a reliability standpoint.

I would say that try this link, if you have not seen our registry page, as it will give you some insight into what to look for and what the car is about.

http://www.zr1netregistry.com/

Also, from there you can link to our forum: http://www.zr1netregistry.com/forum/index.php

and post up with any Q's you have. Oh yea, you may have a very great resource right in your neck of the woods, the FBI....Fast Boys from Illinois, a great wealth of ZR-1 knowledge and a great group of Z owners. They can help you with all the details of looking over a Z.
